Impact Wrestling’s Slammiversary’s main event will pit Ace Austin and Trey in a four way elimination match for the vacant Impact World Championship. They join Eddie Edwards and a mystery opponent (We’re thinking it’ll be EC3). It was originally a five member match, but Tessa Blanchard was stripped and let go after not recording a handful of promos for the show from her home.
The build up has been steady and exciting as Trey was attacked twice backstage by Madman Fulton before he could take the ring. In the weeks following. Fulton has helped Ace Austin to clear away his competition, making Slammiversary’s match easier for him to win. But Trey refused to go away. In fact, he’s the only one that hasn’t fallen since those two surprise attacks as he got the better of Fulton and Austin last week with a steel chair.
Going back to his roots
This week was billed as Ace Austin going back to this roots, to the old Impact gym in Dayton, Ohio as one needs to remember the dirt they came from to grow.

Of course, we learn that this was a trick by Austin to antagonize Trey into coming to the gym and confronting him, which happens when Trey and Wentz are hanging out and notice Austin’s Instagram posts about his workout. They’ll need to square things away and reclaim their territory.
Getting dirty
Once at the gym, Austin was in the ring informing a talent of everything they’d need to clean when Wentz hit Fulton in the back with a garbage can to get his attention.
Wentz tried to lock Fulton in another room, but Fulton easily got out and he chased Wentz out fo the building. Austin then realized Trey was behind him and it was on.
This was more of a fight than wrestling match as Trey speared Austin into the turnbuckle, then proceeded to hammer away on him. Austin shoved him away and slipped onto the floor and he pulled Trey out with him.
Austin gained control after throwing a steel chair at Trey, but he stopped to brag, giving Trey a chance to continue fighting. Trey speared Austin into the wall, and Austin countered his next charge by lifting Trey into the wall,
The fight continued back and forth until Trey superkicked Austin over a railing and into the area where the folded chairs were kept.
On a small platform, Trey gained the upper hand after three kicks below the belt, and threw Austin off but Fulton caught him and set him down.
Fulton grabbed a chair and the pair were about to finish Trey off when Wentz appeared with a chair wrapped in barbed wire.
Locked in a standoff, Austin and Fulton backed off and left the gym to fight at Slammiversary.
This was a great way to close out the competition portion of the show, as the second hour was about 80% promos to set up Slammiversary. Despite it slowing down, it was still faster paced and more engaging than we’ve seen previously, and the pay-per-view is looking like an awesome one.
Another Slammiversay surprise
No show heading into Slammiversary has been without some sort of cliffhanger, and this one didn’t break the trend.
The show ends with Scott D’Amore opening a letter he received in the mail. After he read it, he said, “Slammiversary just got a lot more exciting!”
Looks like another surprise guest is in the works. Who do you think it is?
Guess we’ll have to wait to see, but Impact Wrestling is getting better every week.
