Yujiro Takahashi will face former five-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada at Sengoku Lord in one of two headline matches, in what is his biggest singles match opportunity since his October 13, 2014 v1 NEVER Openweight Championship defense against Tomohiro Ishii at King of Pro Wrestling.
During New Japan Road, Yujiro showed he was willing to go head first in his strategy to bring Okada ‘down’ to his level. While Goto was able to get the fall over Gedo at the 11 minute and 47-second mark, Yujiro succeeded in proving that Okada will not be able to route him without being on his top form.
The third match of the event saw Los Ingobernables de Japon (LIJ) members NEVER Openweight Champion Shingo Takagi and Sanada took on Suzuki-gun members Douki and El Desperado. Shingo makes his v3 defense of the NEVER Openweight Championship against Desperado at Senkogu Lord on July 25th.
Desperado stole the title from Shingo after his successful v2 defense against Sho at the Dominion featured event. The hard-hitting tag team match saw Sanada submit Douki at the 12 minute and 40-second mark. Shingo seemed to regain physical possession of the title, but a last-second attack saw Desperado leave with it.
The second match of New Japan Road saw New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) Los Angeles (LA) Dojo Young Lion Gabriel Kidd, Ryusuke Taguchi, and GBH (Tomoaki Honma/Togi Makabe) face the CHAOS team of one-half of the reigning IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Sho, Yoshi-Hashi, Toru Yano, and Tomohiro Ishii.
In what was a match that saw GBH look strong, at a time when the heavyweight tag team division seems as open as it has in several years. Gabriel Kidd also continued to show promising progress. However, the CHAOS team was able to grab victory.
Toru Yano pinned Kidd after a low blow and Vertical Cradle at the 11 minute and 59-second mark.
The opening match saw the former NWA World Tag Team Champions and six-time IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions TenCozy/TenKoji (Satoshi Kojima/Hiroyoshi Tenzan) defeat NJPW Noge Dojo Young Lions Yuya Uemura and Yota Tsuji.
