After months away from active in-ring competition, potential injuries were a concern for New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) talent during the slate of events scheduled for the New Japan Cup.
Thus far two injuries have been confirmed as two CHAOS members are officially reported to be out of action for an undisclosed amount of time and will miss the upcoming New Japan Cup Finals (July 11th) and Dominion (July 12th) events. From the NJPW website.
YOSHI-HASHI and YOH have both sustained injuries in recent bouts, YOSHI-HASHI to his right knee, and YOH to his left knee.
Both men will be unable to compete in Osaka Jo Hall on July 11 and 12, and there is no current timetable for either to return.
New Japan Pro-Wrestling apologizes to fans who were looking forward to seeing both wrestlers compete. We appreciate your understanding, and wish both men well in their recovery.
Yoshi-Hashi is believed to have suffered his injury against Bushi during the second round of New Japan Cup tournament action, while it’s unclear when Yoh, who is one-half of the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship team, Roppongi 3k (w/Sho) sustained his injury. While there isn’t a current timetable on how much time either wrestler will miss, neither injury is believed to be career-threatening.
While it’s never a good time for a wrestler to sustain an injury, Yoh and Yoshi-Hashi’s ailments come at a bad time for both. Yoh was positioned to have a strong Best of the Super Junior (BOSJ) run if the tournament is to run currently with the G1 Climax later in the year. Yoshi-Hashi had the most singles momentum of his career going into his New Japan Cup quarterfinals match against Evil, but the injury may prevent him from being able to build upon it.
