Was The Cody Vs. Jake Hagar A Botched Finish?
The first night of Fyter Fest was a good show but it seems like something was pretty off with the Cody Vs. Jake Hagar match. Even though this could have been due to the fact that it writes Jake off for a while maybe for an MMA thing. After attacking the referee. To finish off the match with Cody knocked out but on top of Jake, therefore, pinning him. Looking back at the match, it looked like kind of something went wrong. If this is true, we could actually see a story develop from it. Even we haven’t heard anything Jake Hagar yet, we could in Night Two of the event.
It did look kind of off…
The actual full ending of the match felt very off as well. With it feeling like it ended quite quickly and not a very good ending for the build to the match. Not sure if this was meant on purpose or the whole ending to the match was an ending. It could be the start of a full feud with Jake Hager which isn’t really needed but if they’re trying to make a story out it. I suppose that’s a good thing. If it is a botch though and if AEW picks up on it. Although it could be used in the story in the near future.
If true, maybe it could be used for a story?
A story from this could easily develop if done right. AEW tends to try and stick to the rules. If anything goes wrong, they tend to change it into a full-blown story. Look Brit Baker’s injury, they turned that into a story and when a member of the Dark Order botched that turned into a story a well. When things don’t go to plan, instead of acting like it never happened they make the most of the situations. If they do decide to make this into a story. It could be the start of a heel turn for Cody Rhodes which has been hinted at for a while now but nothing is set in stone yet. AEW has now started to be known for their long storytelling and it looks this one could a very long ride.
