It’s hard to get a read on Tony Nese these days. The last time we saw him on 205 Live, he came to the aid of Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott, but then on NXT he was bullying Leon Ruff before being squished by Bronson Reed. Tonight, he faces one half of Ever-Rise in Chase Parker, a team he beat alongside Swerve. Would Nese net another win, or would Parker get the upset?
Tony Nese Will Find No Aid From Swerve
Being part of a tag team makes every singles match easier in a way. Chase Parker always has Matt Martel in his corner, but Tony Nese is alone. Nese is okay with this, and she’d win the opening lock up, throwing Parker down to the mat before flexing on him. He’d take Parker down with a single leg takedown and go for the knee lock, before also grabbing the jaw. This was only meant to wear Parker down, and not get the win. Parker would slip out and try to gain control.
Nese is an all around wrestler making it hard to get one up on him, and he’d use his power to block an arm drag, before using his speed to roll Parker up, and his technical ability to apply a modified abdominal stretch. This is what makes Nese so deadly. Back to their feet, Nese would be forced into the corner by Parker, but be shoved away. Martel would distract Nese, but Parker would be caught with a back elbow when he ran into him. A series of hard strikes would bater Parker but only get a near fall.
Finally getting an opening, Parker would enjoy some brief offense before a shot to the throat would stop him. He’d be sent onto the top rope throat first, but then before Nese could go for the springboard moonsault, Martel would distract again. This time, Parker took advantage with a dropkick through the ropes.
Chase Parker Needs To Stick To Tag Team Matches
Parker would get right on the offensive with an arm wringer, focusing on that arm. Picking a limb and destroying it is a classic tag team move, and it translates well to singles action too. The hard part is staying in control of someone like Nese. Nese would pick Parker up and slam him into the corner, but be dropped with a bulldog, with Parker going right back to the arm. Things were looking good as he stomped the arm. Nese would fight hard to break the control on the arm, driving Parker in the corner. The bulldog wouldn’t work this time, and Nese would regain control with a knee facebuster and a spinning heel kick. The leg trip would set up the springboard moonsault, getting a two count. Martel would get up to distract, but Parker would be thrown into him. A hard spin kick later and Nese is the winner.
Tony Nese gets another win, and those are crucial if he wants to become the face of 205 Live once again. The landscape is changing by the day, and not much of the old-guard of 205 Live is still there. Tony Nese needs to fight harder than ever to stay relevant, but the Premiere Athlete doesn’t give up, and is more focused than ever before. Could Nese become the NXT Cruiserweight Champion again?
