After Keith Lee won the NXT Championship, while being the reigning NXT North American Champion, everyone had one question. Who would be the first to challenge him for it? Well, that is simple. There is one man who always pushed him to his limits, who brought out the best in him. They’re best friends and better rivals. Dominik Dijakovic has been teasing a debut on Monday Night RAW, but he’s due for a big sendoff in NXT; unless he wins both championships tonight. This could be a short run for Keith Lee.
Another Classic In The Making From Keith Lee & Dominik Dijakovic
As soon as the bell rang, the big match feel entered the arena. They would pace around the ring before locking up. Keith Lee would win the test of strength, and they would break it off. The amount of respect would be clear, but eventually fists would have to fly. Another lockup, and they’d fight for control along the ropes, this time Dijakovic getting control. A quick fist bump before they’d get back into it. Lee would drop Dijakovic to the mat and go for a splash, but Dijakovic is faster and would go for a quick pinfall for a one count.
Dijakovic would extend a handshake, and Lee would accept before pulling his friend into a headlock. He knows Dijakovic would do anything to win, and he’d do the same. They would rush into each other with shoulder tackles, but neither man would falter. Dijakovic would launch the first shot of the match, before being launched to the mat after being hit with Grizzly Magnum. Lee would go to the rope for a moonsault, with Dijakovic grabbing him for Feast Your Eyes. Lee narrowly escapes, and knows he was seconds away from losing.
Keith Lee Is Taking This One Seriously
Coming back from the commercial break, Dijakovic would have Lee in a rear chinlock. Lee would fight to his feet and break the grip, but a headbutt to the back of the upper back would stagger the champ. Dijakovic would say it’s time to fly and go for the throw suplex, but the power of Lee would be too much. He’d control the arm and uncork some huge right hands before hitting the pounce, sending Dijakovic to the outside. Looking for a second one, he’d stop before going through the plexiglass like last week. He’d be hit with a sideslam when he got back in the ring, but kick out with ease. Dijakovic would hit a rolling elbow, but be sent face first into the mat for a near fall.
Lee would place Dijakovic on the top rope, but he’d be fought off with headbutts and be sent to the mat. Dijakovic would hit the blockbuster off the top rope, only getting a two count off the following pin. A cyclone boot would drop Lee again, but again he couldn’t pin Lee. He’d run into the Grizzly Magnum chop, and be slammed into the ring. Lee would pick him up for Big Bang Catastrophe and get the win. The first defense of many.
Karrion Kross Sends A Message
Following the match, we’d see another show of respect from both men. They’d hug it out, before the lights got dim. Scarlett would appear at the top of the ramp, holding a sack. She’d stroll down to the ring, and reveal the broken hourglass from a few weeks back. The message is clear. Tick. Tock. Kross would later confront Dijakovic backstage and brawl, with Dijakovic being left laying. Do you think Karrion Kross will bring the end to the reign of Keith Lee?
