Gran Metalik is one of WWE Smackdown’s best kept secrets as a talent, and it’s about time that he gets an opportunity.
In recent months, Lucha House Party, consisting on Gan Metalik, Lince Dorado, and Kalisto (prior to his injury), received a moderate push and had a good showing in the Elimination Chamber.
But they kinda fell off since then with a few appearances here and there, but now it looks like Metalik’s opportunity is now.
Great match
We think Metalik and AJ Styles will have the match of the night, simply because the talent that’ll be in the ring won’t allow for anything less. It’ll be fast-paced, exciting, and have us on the edge of our seats.
But despite all the excitement, we expect AJ Styles to retain the Intercontinental Championship.
This won’t take away from Metalik at all, in fact, we expect Styles to put him over big time and it’ll also give Lucha House Party a boost going forward. Assuming they stay together.
The WWE has a long habit of treating their tag team division as a proving ground for future singles superstars. In fact, their treatment of the tag team division is horrible, in our opinion.
We suspect that AJ Styles is WWE’s version of Cody Rhodes defending his TNT Championship every week for AEW.
Much like with Cody, Styles is meant to put over the younger talent returning the Intercontinental Championship to a semblance of its previous dignity and standing.
Of course, it’d help if the championships meant anything instead of to add drama. But that’s a different complaint of ours for a different time.
Styles will put Gran Metalik over like he did Matt Riddle, and like we expect him to do for Big E.
Up next
The question then becomes, what’s next for Gran Metalik?
Well, we think that depends on how good the match is. If it’s as awesome as we think it’ll be, he could be a potential threat to Styles and even the WWE Championship down the road.
As for feuds, we can see him getting into something with Miz and Morrison, who also seem to be foils to put others over.
Of course, this would probably mean more tag team action and not as much singles.
Because of that, Drew Gulak would be a pretty fun feud to see Metalik involved in. There’s little doubt the two of them can put on a show, or maybe they’ll bring someone up from NXT?
Like everything else, we’ll have to wait and see.
