The All Elite Wrestling Youtube Channel is the hub to know what’s going on in the company at any given time, and will often give some extra inside looks like what we’re looking at today. The TNT Champion Cody Rhodes would sit down with Tony Schiavone, and give some insight into his reign and coming challengers. What did we learn from this interview?
Cody Rhodes Is Looking Past Scorpio Sky
The next man to step up and try to take the TNT Championship from Cody is S.C.U’s Scorpio Sky. Long pegged as a breakout star in AEW, he’s one of two men to have a pinfall victory over Chris Jericho in the company. Since making his intentions clear that he wants singles gold, he’s been unstoppable on AEW Dark. Now he looks to break past Cody and end his TNT Championship reign.
However, when asked about his next opponent, he doesn’t have much to say. He acknowledges that he is unmatched in terms of athletic ability, but he’s a tag team wrestler in Rhodes eyes. Standing on the apron and cheering on your partner for half the match isn’t the same as going 15 minutes with Rhodes.
He’s got respect for him, but Rhodes expects to have him gassed within four minutes and walk away with an easy victory. This is setting up one of a few things, including Sky becoming our new TNT Champion tomorrow night, or they go to the first time limit draw in the belts short history, prompting Cody to get serious for a rematch at All Out. Cody could also just flat out beat Sky, but that doesn’t feel like the story being told here.
The Completed TNT Championship Is Coming Tomorrow Night
Due to COVID-19, the TNT Championship has yet to be completed. AEW debutted the championship anyways, but nickel plating still has to be added. We will finally see the completed championship on this next episode of AEW Dynamite, something that Rhodes confirmed in this interview with Schiavone. The belt that Rhodes renamed “Lil’ Ruth will finally be finished.”
Do you think Cody Rhodes will barely get to hold the new TNT Championship, as Scorpio Sky becomes the second man to hold this championship? Is Rhodes right to be cocky going into this match? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
