For months now, the WWE Performance Center has been the home base of WWE. RAW, Smackdown, 205 Live, and even PPV’s as big as Wrestlemania were hosted within its walls. The constant TV tapings has made it hard for the developmental talents to get their work in, but that will now be easier. With WWE set to move to Arway Center in Orlando, Florida, it’s time for trainees to get back to work.
No More Getting Paid To Play The Audience
For the past few months, WWE shows haven’t had a proper crowd, but we would see many developmental talent and lower card NXT names in the crowd. They were getting paid in full during this time, even if they opted out of showing up for the tapings.
However, while they haven’t been training in the ring, WWE has kept them busy as they worked on their promo skills and studying lots of tape. Those are important parts of being a wrestler, with many coming into the Performance Center having athletic backgrounds, but not as much experience talking and showing their unique characters.
WWE Are Playing It Safe With Training
Regular classes started again as of August 10th, rings were to be set up in the warehouse near the Performance Center. Only two people were to be allowed in the ring at any given time, and those not in the ring will have to wear a mask. All NXT talent, including those on television, reportedly had to attend these classes.
Now they can move from the warehouse and get back into the top of the line facilities of the WWE Performance Center. Hearing about them training in a warehouse brings back memories of NXT’s predecessor, Florida Championship Wrestling. That promotion saw it’s trainees work in a dingy warehouse, one that saw epic matches between the likes of Seth Rollins, Chris Hero, Cesaro, Dean Ambrose and more.
The people training in the WWE Performance Center are the future of WWE, and they’ve been well taken care of since COVID-19 shut down their training. It will be nice for them to get back on track, if not just so we might finally see Dio Maddin & Ruk Bugez make actual debuts on NXT.
