Every week brings us closer to NXT Takeover XXX, and the card becomes clearer and clearer. This week will continue the build, with some title matches, qualifying matches, a big return to the brand and more planned. Let’s take a look at what has been announced thus far.
Undisputed Era Look To Reclaim The NXT Tag Team Championships
Arguably the best tag team in NXT history, Undisputed Era members Bobby Fish & the returning Kyle O’Reilly look to claim a record fourth reign with the NXT Tag Team Championships. The UE has been on a slump as of late, but this gives them a chance to break that and avenge their Worlds Collide loss to Imperium. Fabian Aichner & Marcel Barthel are only getting started as champions however, and won’t let their gold up easily.
Keith Lee Faces Cameron Grimes
One week before he’s in a qualifying match for the NXT North American Championship ladder match, Cameron Grimes looks to knock off the former champion. This is current NXT Champion Keith Lee, who he previously faced in March of this year. With Karrion Kross lurking in the shadows waiting for a chance to strike at Keith Lee, Grimes might be able to get the biggest win of his career.
Shane Thorne Returns To NXT!
In something that isn’t much of a shock, Shane Thorne is back in NXT after a brief stint on Monday Night RAW. He will face fellow Australian Bronson Reed, a man who is on an absolute roll as of late, having beaten Johnny Gargano & Roderick Strong in a triple threat match. Who would be the stronger aussie tonight?
Dakota Kai & Rhea Ripley Battle For #1 Contender
Io Shirai holds one of the most prestigious belts in WWE history, the NXT Women’s Championship. Two women want to change that, but to get the chance they need to go through each other. Former champion Rhea Ripley wants her belt back, and Dakota Kai wants to finally become champion. The winner will face Io at Takeover, and both potential matches should be huge.
Another Ladder Match Qualifying Match
Someone else will join Dexter Lumis & Bronson Reed at NXT Takeover XXX, and it will be either Oney Lorcan, Damien Priest, or NXT UK’s Ridge Holland. This ladder match is being filled with the next generation of stars for NXT, but Lorcan, Priest and Holland all fit that mold, as none of which have held gold in the brand so far. It will be a hard hitting triple threat match, and someone will have a chance at glory.
That is all that WWE has announced for the show, but we can expect to see more of the Adam Cole & Pat McAfee situation. There is also Santos Escobar and the NXT Cruiserweight Championship, which Swerve is getting very close to.
