After the WWE Universe let out a collective groan at Roman Reigns coming back into the Universal Championship picture, we get a contract signing tonight on WWE Smackdown.
This is going to be one of those typical signings where things will probably break down in a hurry. The funny thing is, it may be more entertaining than we expect.
One of the wonderful things about professional wrestling is the often clear cut lines between the good and bad guys.
The problem with this is every not and then it needs a shakeup as fans tend to get tired of the faces always triumphing.
Some of those that were great anti heroes in the past were Steve Austin, The Undertaker, and Kane and many others.
Now, it’s pretty clear Roman Reigns is a heel, but we’ll know for sure tonight. His demeanor and shirt on last week’s WWE Smackdown definitely fit a heel turn.
Guess the reasoning will be that he was tired of seeing “lesser men” tarnish “his” title.
If he can pull it off, great. This is probably the only reason WWE Smackdown will receive a bump in ratings tonight, and we’ll see if it carries over to next week and beyond.
Braun Strowman was another surprise/not surprise turn after he tossed Alexa Bliss into the air to draw out the Fiend a couple of weeks back.
The basic rule of thumb is if someone strikes or hurts a woman, they’re a heel.
It’s a simple rule that makes it easy to spot a turn unless it’s accidental. Strowman later confirmed his turn on Twitter a couple of days after he tossed Bliss.
Would anyone believe that “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt is now a face? Well, he’s listed as such.
This could be attributed to his time with Alexa Bliss, as shown when she reached out and touched his face.
They could’ve affected each other, with her becoming harder and more distant while she tamed Wyatt’s demon.
This isn’t a new story, but it’s an interesting one we’re excited to see how it plays out amid the Wyatt, Strowman, Reigns feud.
With that being said, being the face means Wyatt is outnumbered, but the WWE loves to practice the “evil turns on itself” practice.
We fully expect a scrum tonight, but mainly between Strowman and Reigns as the Fiend will most likely find a way to slip out after one or two hits to let the heels fight.
During this, Strowman will get the upper hand and some payback on Reigns for his attack at SummerSlam.
This is only fitting since we expect Reigns to pin Strowman for the Universal Championship at this Sunday’s Payback pay-per-view to keep the Fiend character strong.
How do you see things playing out? We’d love to hear from you, so let us know in the comments below.
