What once was a promising team of Joey Janela & Sonny Kiss has turned into the go-to team for establishing other teams. That looks to continue tonight, as AEW Dynamite begins with them going against Kip Sabian and the debutting Miro (formerly Rusev in WWE). Could Janela & Kiss pull off an upset?
Before We Get To Action…
Before this match could begin, Sabian had a microphone and something to say. He’d hype up Miro as ‘The Best Man’, and came out looking better than ever. Sonny Kiss & Joey Janela would make their way down, and this match would get started with Kiss & Sabian.
Sabian would take Kiss down with a wristlock, but he took time to pose, releasing the hold. Kiss would hit some deep arm drags and a headscissors, before hitting the handspring slap. Miro would be tagged in, but Sabian tagged back in when he saw Janela. He’d be focused on Janela and miss the blind tag to Kiss, who hit a springboard crossbody.
Janela & Kiss would show their tag team chemistry, something Miro & Sabian don’t have in the ring. Sabian was able to slip away and tag in Miro, and he’d dunk Janela into the mat, sending him to the outside. Kiss got hit with a hard lariat along the way, and Sabian tagged back in to pick the bones.
Miro Cleans House With Ease
Miro would tag back in, and throw Kiss around like a small child with Gutwrench Suplexes. Kiss would find himself isolated due to some quick tags, and hit with the PK, lagging on the cover. Janela would be tagged in, but behind the back of referee Aubrey Edwards, who was distracted by Miro, so it didn’t count and Kiss remains in this match.
Miro would choke Kiss on the rope, and be hit with a hard kick to the back. Sabian would be tagged in, and Kiss got a small package on him for a near fall. The tag would be completed to Janela, who came in and tried to clean house, but a forearm didn’t even stun Miro, but Janela dumped him over the top, with Miro hurting his ankle when he landed.
Despite this, he’d work to launch Sabian into Janela, but Sabian would hit concrete face first. Janela tried for a crossbody, but Miro caught him, though Kiss would stop Janela from being thrown by hitting a dropkick. Sabian was rocked, but Miro saved this one. He’d level Janela with a big kick, and Kiss was nearly taken out with a pop-up lung blower.
Janela stopped that pin, but he’d be taken out. Kiss was rocked with a huge kick, and he’d yell ‘Game Over’, stomp the back and lock in his signature Camel Clutch for the win.
This marks the first of many wins for Miro & Kip Sabian. Could this team make it to the AEW Tag Team Championships? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
