The first tournament match of G1 Climax 30 Night Two and for the 2020 B Block saw Yoshi-Hashi (CHAOS) face the returning Juice Robinson (Hontai) whose last match was on February 26th.
Yoshi-Hashi is still riding the high from winning the first championship of his career, the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championship with fellow CHAOS members Hirooki Goto and Tomohiro Ishii on August 9, 2020.
G1 Climax 30: Juice v Yoshi-Hashi
Juice was antsy to return to ring action and received a great reaction from the Osaka crowd, acknowledging how long he’s been gone due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus 2019) delay.
Yoshi-Hashi and Juice physically went at one another as they exchanged strikes, lariats, and high impact offense throughout the contest. Yoshi-Hashi pulled out nearly his entire arsenal using his Butterfly Lock submission technique, Swanton Bomb, and attempted his Karma technique.
Juice pulled out his Juice Box technique but was unable to gain the fall with the maneuver. Yoshi-Hashi was able to prove he deserved to be in G1 Climax 30 after not making the cut for G1 Climax 29.
After several devastating punches Juice was able to gain the fall over Yoshi-Hashi with his Pulp Friction technique at the 15 minute and 57-second mark. In what was an impressive showing of endurance after such a long layoff from in-ring competition.
Yoshi-Hashi has nothing to be disappointed about after his impressive performance. His nearly defeating the two-time former IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion showed consistency in his performance. While he will want to find positive results during G1 Climax 30, his showing against Juice could foreshadow how he competes throughout the tournament.
Juice is not the favorite to win B Block, but he could turn quite a few heads if he can pick up several signature victories.
