G1 Climax 30 Night 4 sees the second night of Block B after several entertaining stories stole the spotlight during G1 Climax 30 Night 2.
Naito (LIJ) [2 Points] v Zack Sabre Jr. (Suzuki-Gun) [2 Points]
IWGP Heavyweight and IWGP Intercontinental ‘Double Champion’ Tetsuya Naito faces former four-time Revolution Pro Wrestling (RevPro) Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion Zack Sabre Jr. (ZSJ) in the marquee match of G1 Climax 30 Night 4.
The Los Ingobernables de Japon (LIJ) leader Naito comes into the match after defeating former eight-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi during the first night of Block B action. Naito is also a winner of G1 Climax 23 and G1 Climax 27, giving himself an edge over most regarding tournament action.
On the first night of Block B action of G1 Climax 30, ZSJ defeated former ‘Double Champion’ Evil.
Naito and ZSJ are 2-2 against one another in singles competition coming into the match, their G1 record is also 1-1 against the other. Naito defeated ZSJ at Power Struggle 2018 on November 3, 2018.
Evil (Bullet Club) [0 Points] v Yoshi-Hashi (CHAOS) [0 Points]
Evil holds a 2-1 singles record over his second G1 Climax 30 opponent Yoshi-Hashi, having brutally attacked him during New Japan Cup 2020. While both are looking for their first points of the tournament, Evil has more pressure on him.
Yoshi-Hashi lost on G1 Climax 30 Night 2 against former two-time IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion, Juice Robinson in what was a highly competitive match.
Evil’s loss to ZSJ may put him in a foul mood, yet Yoshi-Hashi has proven that he will not back down without a fight, especially in a rare opportunity for him to headline an event in a singles match.
Kenta (Bullet Club) [2 Points] v Juice (Hontai) [2 Points]
Former NEVER Openweight Champion and New Japan Cup USA 2020 winner Kenta faces former two-time IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion Juice Robinson in one of the more interesting G1 Climax 30 Night 4 matches.
Kenta was able to defeat rival former two-time IWGP Intercontinental and five-time NEVER Openweight Champion Hirooki Goto. Goto was also the winner of G1 Climax 18.
Juice was able to beat Yoshi-Hashi in his first G1 Climax 30 match, and his return to ring action since the COVID-19 (Coronavirus 2019) delay.
This will be the first singles match between the two, and it should be a hard-hitting and physical match.
Tanahashi (Hontai) [0 Points] v Yano (CHAOS) [2 Points]
Toru Yano managed a crafty G1 Climax 30 Night 2 victory over Sanada, while Hiroshi Tanahashi came up short in a spirited match against ‘Double Champion’ Naito.
Coming into the match, Tanahashi holds a healthy 15-3-2 (W/L/D) singles match record against Yano. Tanahashi also holds a 5-1-1 record against Yano in G1 competition.
Yano will have to dive in his bag of tricks if he hopes to secure two points over the former eight-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion and G1 Climax 17, 25, and 28 winner.
Goto (CHAOS) [0 Points] v Sanada (LIJ) [0 Points]
While both Sanada and Goto tasted defeat during the second night of tournament action, they will have the opportunity to make up for it on the fourth night of G1 competition.
Sanada holds a 2-1 singles match over Goto, in a series that has only seen action during tournaments. They are 1-1 in G1 competition, with Snada having defeated Goto during New Japan Cup 2019.
This could end up being one of the surprise matches of the tournament if both athletes come into it prepared to fight.
The opening match of the event sees New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) Noge Dojo Young Lion’s Yota Tsuji and Yuya Uemura compete in singles action.
