Tehuti Miles is now Ashante Adonis, following a name change. This didn’t bring him any more luck when he faced Velveteen Dream on NXT this past week, but his confidence remains as strong as ever. He’s lost matches to Ariya Daivari, The Brian Kendrick, Mansour and more, yet is still calling out veterans for matches on social media. Kendrick would answer the call once again, but would the result be the same this time?
The Brian Kendrick Wants To Teach Another Lesson
Adonis came to the ring more serious than usual, keen to win this week. He’d apply a headlock early, but Kendrick grabbed an armbar and forced Adonis into the corner. Adonis would shove Kendrick off, but he’d hesitate when Kendrick played hurt for a moment.
The wiley veteran would immediately take control, but Adonis would use his agility to hit a crossbody, and actually press this advantage. Adonis would keep his foot on the gas, no taunting, just a big dropkick to the side of the face.
Kendrick would hold onto the ropes as Adonis tried to pull him up, and drag Adonis throat first into the ropes. A big boot to the face drops Adonis for a two count, before beating the rookie down and applying a Stretch Plum.
Ashante Adonis Will Get A Win Eventually
After some elbows to the neck, Kendrick would transition to a double arm suplex, sending Adonis hard to the mat for a two count. Adonis would fight back, but miss the crossbody this time, crashing face first into the mat. A snapmare led to a second Stretch Plum, but Adonis fought the hold this time, shoving Kendrick into the corner.
Kendrick would fight back and throw Adonis into the corner, but would eat a big clothesline for his efforts, causing a double down. Adonis would press his advantage with some quick strikes, before going for the signature spinebuster for a two count.
A headbutt to the stomach and a single leg dropkick to the jaw would stun Adonis as Kendrick tried to go for the Captains’ Hook, but Adonis rolled through. He’d nail a clean DDT, but took too much time and applied a very weak cover, allowing Kendrick to apply the Captains’ Hook and win via submission.
The losing streak continues, but Adonis also continues to get better by the week. A name change didn’t get him a win, but the future of Ashante Adonis remains bright all the same. Do you think he’s a future Cruiserweight Champion? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
