KUSHIDA is now settled into America, and he can place all of his focus on the ring again. He’s been shut down and delayed by injuries, and to get truly started? KUSHIDA has gotten truly vicious. He makes his NXT Takeover debut this weekend at NXT Takeover 31 against Velveteen Dream, and tonight has a tune up match to ensure he’s ready for his biggest match yet in WWE. His opponent is former NXT Cruiserweight Champion, Tony Nese!
KUSHIDA Nearly Takes The Arm Home
They would circle the ring, but Nese took a second to taunt and got kicked in the side of the head. Some quick Kawada kicks to the face, and a kick to the arm would get Nese, but when he went for the hip toss into dropkick? Nese had it scouted.
He’d end up being taken throat first onto the top rope, and a quick brawl on the outside favoured Nese until he got sent shoulder first into the ring post. Back in the ring, he’d try for the Pumphandle Driver, and end up getting hit with two quick arm breakers. KUSHIDA would grab the arms and stomp away on Tony Nese, finally he’d grab the hoverboard lock and this one was over.
Velveteen Dream Sends A Message To His Challenger
KUSHIDA was laser focused on the arm of Tony Nese, and we can expect the same thing to be the case this weekend at NXT Takeover 31. Following the match, Dream would show up on the screen and say the spotlight will be too bright this Sunday for KUSHIDA.
Dream on the other hand? He puts on his best performances under the bright lights of Takeover, which is probably why the Parking Lot Brawl with Adam Cole was one of the worst matches of the year, no bright lights to be under.
This match will hopefully be the one which launches KUSHIDA to some championship matches, and while Dream is rightfully controversial in the eyes of fans, it should be a great match in function.
