On tonight’s WWE Smackdown, WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns will talk about his relationship with Jey Uso as they head into their Universal Championship match at Clash of Champions.
We expect this to be a typical feel good segment as he covers how much family means to him and it’s important to give Jey and others a chance to prove themselves.
Of course, given Reigns’ stony game face at the end of last week’s episode, we can also expect him to say he intends to defeat his cousin and retain the Universal Championship.
We suspect Jey will become a serious threat at some point in their match that Reigns will have to really turn up his heelness to win.
It could be the start of a new stable, or the fracturing of family ties as we begin a new feud.
It’s also interesting to note that the Rock has recently said he’d be honored to face Reigns in a match, so we expect that in the coming weeks as well as Reigns seeks to take over his family as their new tribal chief.
Jeff Hardy vs. Sami Zayn
This isn’t unexpected as they’ll be facing each other at Clash of Champions and a good final push into the pay-per-view is needed, but this also feels out of place.
We can’t put our finger on why, but it feels that WWE Smackdown would be better served in having them banter on the microphone of have a backstage encounter.
We expect this to be a decent match with AJ Styles interfering in some way to gain an upper hand at Clash of Champions.
As for who will win, we think it’ll be Zayn to build uncertainty before his probable win at Clash of Champions.
It makes sense now that Jeff has signed a contract extension and can move into the Universal Championship fight in a couple of months, and the fact that Zayn never lost the Intercontinental Championship.
Despite rumors that he undermines himself backstage, there are just as many, if not more, rumors that they want to make him a big star, so we think he’s heading for a win on WWE Smackdown.
It’ll be a great way to build some momentum for him going into his match at Clash of Champions.
It’s also a great way to sow the idea that Zayn will win, and we’re buying into it. Jeff is the most likely winner with Zayn continuing to complain going forward
But Zayn winning at Clash of Champions feels like something the current WWE would do. We’ll just have to wait and see.
