Two weeks ago, we would see the first match between TNT Champion Cody Rhodes and “Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy.
It would end up going to a time limit draw, and this week, lumberjacks will surround the ring in an effort to make this one have a conclusive finish, and try to keep Dark Order from ruining the match. Will we see a new champion going into Full Gear?
Orange Cassidy Starts Fast
Orange Cassidy would get started real quick in this match with the Orange Punch, Rhodes nearly countering into the Cross Rhodes. OC went for the MouseTrap pin, but this was countered. At least we know this one won’t go the time limit, as there is zero feeling out process anymore.
OC would sucker Rhodes in with him trying to put his hands in his pockets before grabbing a quick headlock takeover. Trying to out-wrestle Rhodes is a choice, and one that would let Rhodes throw him right into the corner. OC would be lifted up for a stalling suplex, before being dropped on his face.
Rhodes would do some pushup, wasting time and getting cocky. A quick elbow butt to the head and another suplex attempt, but OC had a stalling suplex of his own, Rhodes rolling to the outside, the lumberjacks not exactly doing their job and letting OC hit a dive.
Rhodes would be hit with a Dragon Screw in the ropes, and while he tried to take OC off the apron, Best Friends caught him and put him back up top. Back in the ring, OC would trip Rhodes up and send him to the outside, and while Best Friends caught Cody, they dropped him before sending him into the ring.
All Hell Breaks Loose
OC would trip Rhodes onto the ropes and distract the ref, letting Trent sucker punch Rhodes in the jaw, before hitting him with a crossbody off the top. The swinging DDT would be next, but Rhodes nearly countered into the Figure Four being shoved off into the Dark Order at ringside. He quickly got in, ate the DDT and that got OC a two count.
OC went off the top with a splash, Rhodes getting the knees up and both men were sent to the outside, the lumberjacks getting them back into the ring very slowly.
Back in the ring, Rhodes would start to work on the knee of OC, setting up for the Figure Four as the finish. Between this and slowing the pace down, this was starting to become Rhodes type of match.
OC would get a bit of a break from the assault by sending Rhodes outside into The Dark Order, before feeling bad and trying to save him as all hell broke loose on the outside. Rhodes got back in the ring, just in time to superplex OC into the mess of people at ringside. Dustin Rhodes helped his brother, and Gunn Club found OC for him.
Cody Rhodes Gets Some Help
Rhodes got a two count in the ring, before hitting the Cody Cutter. Getting back to his feet, OC would throw some very lazy strikes, only to nail a perfect superkick and be run through with a clothesline. OC would counter a suplex into a stunner and hit the diving DDT, and hit Beach Break for a close two count.
The Orange Punch was next, but Dark Order got involved, one distracting the referee, letting John Silver boot OC, and then Arn Anderson hit him with the clipboard. Rhodes hit the Cross Rhodes, and that was it for this match.
Everyone would get into the ring for a brawl, and Rhodes fled to the ramp. He’d watch as Gunn Club cleared the ring of Dark Order, and Darby Allin was calmly sitting up in the seats.
