The headline match of G1 Climax 30 Night 6 B Block competition saw KOPW (presumably King of Pro Wrestling) 2020 titleholder and CHAOS member Toru Yano face former IWGP Heavyweight and IWGP Intercontinental ‘Double Champion’ and Bullet Club member, Evil.
Evil came into the match with loss to Suzuki-Gun member and former four-time Revolution Pro Wrestling (RevPro) Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion Zack Sabre Jr and a victory over the game CHAOS member Yoshi-Hashi.
While Yano managed upset victories over Los Ingobernables de Japon (LIJ) member Sanada and former eight-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi, by doing so without really having to break a sweat in either match.
Yano again relied on his mind games to throw his opponent off. While Evil had a 2-0 singles record against Yano coming into the match, his success didn’t seem to really prepare him for Yano’s frustrating tactics.
Yano also didn’t seem bothered by the presence of Evil’s manager Dick Togo, who has helped the former ‘Double Champion’ secure a number of victories since his return to New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) during Dominion.
However, Togo wasn’t able to prevent Evil from getting caught by surprise from the tricky Yano who was able to gain the fall at the 4 minutes and 33 seconds mark with a Horizontal Cradle technique.
The victory moved Yano to an impressive 3-0 start to his G1 Climax 30 campaign, while Evil fell to a difficult 1-2 hole. However, it’s unlikely Evil will fold through the rest of the tournament thanks to the confidence Dick Togo provides him.
If Evil is to win B Block, he’s going to need to go on a run of victories down the stretch. Yano, is in an interesting place as he could continue to spoil the tournament for his opponents, he could perhaps even turn himself into a serious block challenger.
