G1 Climax 30 Night 8 saw former two-time IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion Juice Robinson face CHAOS member and current KOPW (presumably King of Pro Wrestling) titleholder Toru Yano in the first Block B match of the event.
Yano came off a surprising win over former IWGP Heavyweight and IWGP Intercontinental ‘Double Champion’ and Bullet Club member, Evil during G1 Climax 30 Night 6 to move his record to 3-0 in tournament action.
On the other hand, Juice lost his previous match to former eight-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion and G1 Climax 17, G1 Climax 25, and G1 Climax 28, leading to his record to drop to 2-1.
Yano decided to rely on a new trick in an attempt to pick up a quick two points over Juice. After convincing Juice to put on a new Toru Yano t-shirt, Yano nearly defeated Juice in the opening moments with a cradle.
Juice would fight his way back into the match, only for his feet to be taped together by Yano who was looking for a ring out victory.
Despite his tricky efforts, Yano couldn’t figure out a way to put Juice away. However, Juice would gain the fall using a roll-up at the 6 minutes and 42 seconds to improve his record to 3-1, while Yano’s fell to the same.
It has always been difficult for Yano to remain consistent in G1 Climax competition due to his opponents becoming accustomed to his tricks, yet he will remain a problem for his upcoming competition.
Juice picking up two points allows him to remain a threat at the top of the B Block table, and give him the chance to make an important towards the G1 Climax 30 Finals.
It is possible Juice is benefiting from having more rest than other wrestlers on the New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) roster coming into the G1. Juice did not wrestler on New Japan Strong for the New Japan of America (NJoA) brand after the COVID-19 (Coronavirus, 2019) forced delay.
