G1 Climax 30 Night 8 sees the fourth night of B Block action in what could be an important night in determining who eventually moves on to the finals.
Naito (LIJ) [6 Points] v Sanada (LIJ) [0 Points]
The leader of Los Ingobernables de Japon (LIJ) and IWGP Heavyweight and IWGP Intercontinental ‘Double Champion’ Tetsuya Naito faces fellow LIJ member Sanada in the marquee match of G1 Climax 30 Night 8.
The two members of the faction have begun the tournament on opposite ends of the spectrum with Naito winning his opening three matches, with defeating former NEVER Openweight Champion and G1 Climax 18 winner Hirooki Goto during G1 Climax 30 Night 6.
Sanada, on the other hand, was unable to defeat CHAOS member Yosh-Hashi on the same night. Much like former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Jay White last year, Sanada has begun G1 Climax 30 by dropping his first three matches to members of CHAOS.
Sanada is in a must-win scenario if he wants to keep any hope of winning B Block, while Naito can continue his perfect and impressive start to the G1.
Evil (Bullet Club) [2 Points] v Kenta (Bullet Club) [4 Points]
In what is one of the more intriguing matches in the entirety of G1 Climax 30 Block actions, two Bullet Club members face one another. Former NEVER Openweight Champion and New Japan Cup USA 2020 winner Kenta faces former IWGP Heavyweight and IWGP Intercontinental ‘Double Champion’ and New Japan Cup 2020 winner Evil.
Evil is coming off a loss on G1 Climax Night 6 to CHAOS member Toru Yano, while Kenta is coming off a victory against Suzuki-Gun member Zack Sabre Jr.
Kenta has been respectful towards Evil since the latter joined Bullet Club, but this match could show what is really going on within the Bullet Club locker room.
Tanahashi (Hontai) [2 Points] v Yoshi-Hashi (CHAOS) [2 Points]
Former eight-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion and G1 Climax 17, G1 Climax 25, and G1 Climax 28 winner Hiroshi Tanahashi has a perfect 3-0 record in singles competition against CHAOS member Yoshi-Hashi.
While Tanahashi has gotten off to a slow 1-2 start to begin G1 Climax 30, his victory against former two-time IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion Juice Robinson during G1 Climax 30 Night 6 may be the momentum he needs going forward.
Yoshi-Hashi upset Sanada in his previous G1 Climax 30 match, which could lead to him surprising the world and getting his first fall victory over Tanahashi.
Goto (CHAOS) [2 Points] v Zack Sabre Jr (Suzuki-Gun) [2 Points]
Former two-time IWGP Intercontinental Champion, five-time NEVER Openweight Champion, and G1 Climax 18 winner and CHAOS member Hirooki Goto faces former four-time Revolution Pro Wrestling (RevPro) Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion and Suzuki-Gun member Zack Sabre Jr (ZSJ) during G1 Climax 30 Night 8.
With both wrestlers sitting at 2 points, this is an important swing match. ZSJ may be in worse condition after a physical match against Kenta, but his style presents problems for every opponent he faces.
Goto will hope to use high impact offense to take the two points away from the match.
Juice (Hontai) [4 Points] v Toru Yano (CHAOS) [6 Points]
CHAOS member Toru Yano has begun G1 Climax 30 B Block with victories over Sanada (Night 2), Tanahashi (Night 4), and Evil (Night 6) to put himself at the top of the bracket.
Juice had a perfect start until Tanahashi was able to defeat him during G1 Climax Night 6. However, Juice has defeated Yano during the past three G1 Climax tournaments, giving him a perfect 3-0 record in singles competition against the trickster.
Yano, the KOPW (presumably King of Pro Wrestling) titleholder will look to jump out to a perfect 4-0 G1 Climax 30 start and secure his first singles victory over Juice Robinson.
The opening match of the event will see New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) Noge Dojo Young Lion Yota Tsuji face NJPW Los Angeles (LA) Dojo Young Lion Gabriel Kidd. They are 1-1 against each other during the G1 Climax 30 tour.
