G1 Climax 30 Night 10 saw former four-time Revolution Pro Wrestling (RevPro) Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion and Suzuki-Gun member Zack Sabre Jr face Los Ingobernables de Japon (LIJ) member Sanada.
Zack Sabre Jr was able to defeat Sanada at Wrestle Kingdom 14 Night 2 on January 5, 2020, in a defense of the RevPro Undisputed British Heavyweight Championship. The two always wrestle a highly technical style against one another as Sanada employs the Lucha Libre inspired Llave style while Zack Sabre Jr is known for his vicious Catch Wrestling submission tactics.
G1 Climax 30: Sanada v ZSJ
Sanada came into the match coming off his first G1 Climax 30 B Block victory against IWGP Heavyweight and IWGP Intercontinental ‘Double Champion’ and fellow LIJ unit mate Tetsuya Naito. Zack Sabre Jr was coming off a victory against former two-time IWGP Intercontinental Champion and five-time NEVER Openweight Champion and CHAOS member Hirooki Goto during G1 Climax 30 Night 8.
With only 2 points, the match was a must-win for Sanada. Zack Sabre Jr also needed a victory to move his total to 6, which would keep him on pace with those atop of the B Block table.
As expected, the two shared a flurry of holds and counter holds, with Zack Sabre Jr gaining the advantage when the pace slowed down, allowing him to trap Sanada in a slew of locks.
However, Sanada was able to find his way to the ropes or reverse out of several holds that could have led to him submitting otherwise. Sanada eventually found his form and was able to piece together a string of offense.
Sanada would gain the fall at the 14 minutes and 31 seconds mark with his Moonsault technique to keep himself alive for the G1 Climax 30 Finals. The loss hurts Zack Sabre Jr, but he still has a chance to win the block if he can go on a run, and Naito stumbles.
