G1 Climax 30 Night 13 saw an interesting match between Bullet Club members as former NEVER Openweight Champion Yujiro faced former IWGP Heavyweight, IWGP Intercontinental, and IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion, “Switchblade” Jay White.
Switchblade came into the match after a hard-fought victory against Suzuki-Gun member Taichi during G1 Climax 30 Night 11, moving him to 8 points within A Block competition.
Yujiro was unable to defeat the former five-time former NEVER Openweight Champion and CHAOS member Tomohiro Ishii on the same night, leaving him at 0 points in the A Block.
Switchblade thought Yujiro was going to lie down for him, allowing him to pick up a key two points to keep pace with the total needed to advance to the G1 Climax 30 Finals. With Yujiro already being eliminated from finals contention, White thought it would be proper for his Bullet Club mate to do him the honors.
However, Yujiro decided to make a match of it. Hitting Switchblade with a Low Blow, Olympic Slam, and Miami Shine in rapid succession. Switchblade was able to survive the onslaught and used a Low Blow of his own with Gedo providing the necessary distraction.
Switchblade was able to gain the fall at the 3 minutes and 40 seconds mark with his Bladerunner technique, giving him 10 points in bracket action.
White was angry with Yujiro nearly defeating him, causing Gedo to restrain him from using a chair against his unit mate. Jay White faces current NEVER Openweight Champion and Suzuki-Gun leader Minoru Suzuki (October 13th) and Tomohiro Ishii (October 16th) to finish his block campaign.
With both matches being difficult, Switchblade will have to regain his focus and not worry about arguments within Bullet Club if he hopes to be a back to back G1 Climax finalist.
Yujiro has the opportunity to spoil the tournament for former IWGP Intercontinental Champion and G1 Climax 29 winner Kota Ibushi on October 13th.
