In two weeks, AEW World Champion Jon Moxley will look to make his 8th defense of the championship when he faces Casino Battle Royal winner, that being ‘The Murderhawk Monster’ Lance Archer. This is a match that very well could go either way, though Moxley is projected to win this. However, even if he wins, it won’t be long until he needs to defend again at AEW Full Gear in early November. Who could the next PPV challenger be?
Eddie Kingston In An ‘I Quit’ Match With Jon Moxley
When Eddie Kingston got his impromptu shot at the AEW World Championship, he lost via referee stoppage. Jon Moxley had him in a tight Bulldog Choke, Kingston lost consciousness , and the referee called for the bell. This seems pretty decisive, but Eddie Kingston does not agree. He didn’t quit, he didn’t give up, the match in his eyes, should have kept going.
This past week on AEW Dynamite, this feud with Moxley continued as Kingston picked an opponent for Moxley to defend his AEW Championship again, and he picked The Butcher, who again couldn’t beat Moxley.
The spotlight will likely be on Archer vs. Moxley for next week to set up their title match, but Kingston isn’t going to give this up. This sets the stage for two potentially big matches at Full Gear, one being a Lights Out match for the AEW World Championship, letting both men dabble in some ultra violence. The other is an I Quit match, because we all know Kingston does not quit.
The chemistry and storyline of Jon Moxley & Eddie Kingston are natural, make sense, and fans keep wanting more. However, there might be a better pure match on the table.
Launching Penta El Zero Em Into The Main Event
When it was announced that Jon Moxley would defend his AEW Championship against an opponent of Eddie Kingstons choosing, everyone wanted one man. This is Penta El Zero Em, one half of the Lucha Bros tag team, but is so much more than a tag team specialist. Penta has been a top singles star just about anywhere he’s been, including Impact Wrestling, Lucha Underground and Major League Wrestling.
It is only a matter of time before he finds big singles matches in AEW as well. Penta even has history with Moxley outside of AEW, with them having met in North East Wrestling soon after Moxley left WWE, in a match where he would win by pulling Penta’s mask on and rolling him up, showing disrespect for lucha libre culture. That match was great, and with the production values of AEW behind it, it could be a classic.
The best part of both of these matches is that they wouldn’t even need the AEW Championship to be PPV worthy, so even if Archer wins, they’re great options. Who do you want to see face Jon Moxley at AEW Full Gear? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
