When the NXT UK Heritage Cup was announced, there was a mystery surrounding who the eighth man would be. Tonight we find out, as Kenny Williams, Ashton Smith & Amir Jordan clash in a triple threat match to earn this final spot.
All three men are normally found in the NXT UK Tag Team division, as Ashton Smith is the partner of Oliver Carter, and Williams & Jordan team with each other. These are three untested members of the roster, giving them just their biggest shot yet!
Kenny Williams & Amir Jordan Can’t Work Together
Smith would shove off both Jordan & Williams, before they’d lock up and pull Smith in. They’d team up to take Smith out, before showing some friendly competition in the ring. Williams almost got the win after a rollup, but Jordan was just getting started. Smith would catch them slacking and tear through them with a big double lariat.
Jordan would get the rollup on Smith, but Williams snatched him out into a crucifix pinfall, getting a near fall. He’d shove Smith off, the powerhouse would take control dishing out suplexes and slams galore. Williams would use his speed to get some shots in on Smith, but a plancha over the top rope just led to him getting caught.
Jordan would dive out and topple both men, before taking Smith into the ring and attempting to win the match. He’d instead get hit with a dropkick, and Jordan wouldn’t get any help from Williams, who couldn’t find his way back to the apron without alerting Smith.
Jordan would be set up in the corner for a superplex, but a distraction from Williams would allow him to fight out. He’d go to a powerbomb, and Smith held on until Williams came off the top with an uppercut, sending Smith hard to the mat. Jordan would look for the pinfall, but Williams came in with a double stomp to break it up, Jordan dodging at the last moment.
Who Gets The Date With Trent Seven?
Smith would throw his weight around, and once again take control with some big strikes and a huge Blue Thunder Bomb for a near fall on Williams. He’d go for the same on Jordan, but it’d be countered into a rollup for one. Jordan was sent to the apron, but he’d roll in and hit a facebuster for a two count.
Williams & Jordan would exchange strikes, until Jordan went for a rollup and would be thrown away by Smith. A powerbomb attempt would be dashed as Williams got a Hurricanrana for a near fall, then looking for a Satellite DDT before being thrown away.
Smith would plant Willams, and if it wasn’t for a Swanton Bomb from Jordan, that would have been it. Jordan would go for the pin, get two, and go to the apron. Smith was ready hit time and hit a superkick as Jordan rolled in, but would then be caught by Williams Satellite DDT, ending this one.
Kenny Williams will go on to face Trent Seven in the first round of the Heritage Cup tournament. Does he have any chance of reaching the second round? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
