We’re just one week away from one of the biggest matches in AEW history, Kenny Omega vs. Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship. There’s still half of that contract to be signed, but also an AEW World Women’s Championship match, a newly turned Will Hobbs, and the Tag Team Championship hunt begins anew. Let’s break down the announced matches for tonight!
Jon Moxley Still Needs To Sign The Contract
Last week, AEW wanted to get the contract for the upcoming AEW World Championship match signed without issue. Kenny Omega got his name on the page after fighting with the pen, but Jon Moxley never made it to the ring. He was attacked backstage, and we still don’t know who was behind this.
Tonight, AEW is trying again to get this match officially set, and we might get answers on who attacked Jon Moxley. That is, if he is able to make it to the ring this time.
Hikaru Shida Defends The AEW World Women’s Championship
Finally, Hikaru Shida is back in the ring, and not simply cheering from ringside as the NWA Women’s Championship is defended. Back on April 1st, she beat a bright eyed rookie in Anna Jay, but while the name remains the same, Jay is a whole other beast now.
She’s rapidly become one of the best in the AEW Women’s division, and only just celebrated his first year as a professional wrestler, and has a chance to claim gold. Shida won’t make it easy, but this is possibly the chance Jay needs to prove herself.
Loads of Tag Team Action
Considering AEW has perhaps the best tag team division in the world, it’s no shock that they’re able to book a few huge tag team matches on a whim for Dynamite.
First, Chris Jericho & Jake Hager of The Inner Circle take on Frankie Kazarian & Christopher Daniels of SCU. Jericho wants go add the AEW World Tag Team Championships to his resume, and Hager is a powerful and loyal ally, and beating the team who previously held those titles is a great start. There is 58 years of wrestling experience between Jericho & Daniels alone, so this should be a treat.
Next, we have another match from the new team of Top Flight. One week after taking The Young Bucks to their limits, they get a chance to face another high speed team in Jack Evans & Angelico, best known as TH2. Top Flight are now officially signed to AEW, and could be the future of the entire division.
A Tag Team Grudge Match
Finally, we have a grudge match. PAC is back in AEW, and last week started to reform Death Triangle with Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero M. He was able to defeat Blade in singles action, but tonight with Fenix by his side we also add Butcher to the mix. It’s not Eddie Kingston, the main target of PAC, but it’ll do for now. The wild card here is Penta El Zero M, who isn’t the most trusted name in professional wrestling.
Also announced is Will Hobbs in action, just one week after joining Team Taz. FTR have announced they will return after an absence following their loss to The Young Bucks. Hangman Page will face Dark Orders John Silver in singles action. What are you most excited for too tonight on AEW Dynamite? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
