‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) Spoilers here and it looks like we’re closing the week off with a throwback spoiler from October 2, 1991.
Yep, we not only get an awesomely classic episode, but one that’s fresh in our minds as it recently played.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers Friday, November 27: Masquerade Ball October 2. 1991
As many of us may remember, it was one of the first episodes played during the production halt during the previous lockdown.
While it’s going to be great to be back in the Colonnade Room for the iconic masquerade ball and see old friends like Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper), we’re curious if there wasn’t a better choice.
It just seems weird that in forty plus years of the show, they don’t have any iconic Thanksgiving episodes to rebroadcast?
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers Friday, November 27: Not surprised
As much as we love these classics, the fact the first episode from a Halloween themed storyline was chosen and we most likely won’t get to see the whole thing play out feels as weak as the show’s current storytelling.
Don’t get us wrong, ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers love the show, but this is one of those head scratching decisions that rank up there with continuing the Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) arc.
Since the show has decided to abandon the darker aspects that had made it great years ago is one thing, but to select an episode that has little to no bearing on the current holiday?
Maybe we’re reading too much into this and the showrunners simply want to give us a fun episode at the cheapest, easiest, and laziest way possible, meaning it was already accessible.
Of course, there’s the possibility that this is going to start a new trend of them showing classic episodes every Friday.
That would ease the pressure of producing so many so fast and allow the writers to come up with some good ideas instead of repeating the same conversations over and over again.
It could also be their way of promoting the CBS website where some of these classics are. It’d give us a chance to watch them even if we can’t skip through a few more commercials.
Okay, ”The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers are going to look on the bright side and enjoy this treat and seeing our old favorites. Maybe we’ll get the complete arc this time.
