New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) hosted the second night of the World Tag League 2020 (WTL 2020) tournament series in front of 1,433 fans at the Yoshitsune Arena within the Ishikawa Prefecture. As usual, during present times, the crowd number was reduced to fit NJPW’s COVID-19 (Coronavirus, 2019) safety protocols.

The marquee tournament match of the event saw reigning IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions and Suzuki-Gun members Dangerous Tekkers (Zack Sabre Jr/Taichi) take on HenarACE (Hiroshi Tanahashi/Toa Henare). HenarACE was coming off being blitzed by the Empire team of Jeff Cobb/Great-O-Kharn on the opening day of the tournament, thrown off by Cobb being O-Kharn’s mystery partner.

Dangerous Tekkers were able to defeat the CHAOS tandem of two-thirds of the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championship team of Hirooki Goto/Yoshi-Hashi to begin their campaign. However, they seemed to be caught off guard by how well HenarACE worked together after their loss to the Empire.

Tanahashi/Henare found opportunities to take the fight to the champions throughout the match, building from their WTL 2019 experience together. Henare, who has just made his return to an NJPW ring due to the COVID-19 delay found his footing during the match.

Tanahashi also showed flashes of the prolific champion he’s been throughout his historic career. However, they were unable to beat Dangerous Tekkers, who have been on top form since NJPW returned to action this past summer.

Taichi would gain the fall over Henare at the 19 minutes and 37 seconds mark after he and Taichi used their tandem Zack Mephisto technique to start their campaign at a perfect 2-0. While falling to 0-2, HenarACE saw a great improvement in their work as a tag team. They went on to face former IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions FinJuice (Juice Robinson/David Finlay) on November 19th.

Dangerous Tekkers would go on to face the Los Ingobernables de Japon (LIJ) team of Sanada and reigning NEVER Openweight Champion “The Dragon” Shingo Takagi on the same night as the champions look to begin their WTL 2020 campaign at 3-0.
