The November 19, 2020 World Tag League 2020 (WTL 2020) event took place in front of 662 fans (Reduced due to COVID-19). The Korkauen Hall audience in Tokyo, Japan was as lively as New Japan Pro Wrestling’s (NJPW) COVID-19 guidelines allowed them to be.
The second series match of the event saw former IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions FinJuice (David Finlay/Juice Robinson) [1-1] take on HenarAce (Hiroshi Tanahashi/Toa Henare) [0-2]. FinJuice was coming off a win against the Bullet Club tandem of Evil/Yujiro on November 16th, while HenarAce was coming off a defeat on the same night at the hands of reigning IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions the Suzuki-Gun team of Dangerous Tekkers (Zack Sabre Jr/Taichi).
Despite FinJuice having far more experience together as a team, the Tanahashi led team was able to ask questions of the former champions. Henare is in the process of knocking off rust from not wrestling since the end of February due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus, 2019) forced delay.
However, FinJuice was able to respond and answer every question with those of their own. Finlay gained the fall on Henare after he and Juice hit the Doomsday Device technique at the 11 minutes and 18 seconds mark.
FinJuice went to 2-1 [4 points] while HenarAce fell to 0-3 to stay on 0. They would go on to Jeff Cobb/Great-O-Kharn of the Empire on November 22nd, while HenarAce faced the CHAOS tandem of two-thirds of the reigning NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Champions Hirooki Goto/Yoshi-Hashi on the same night.
While HenarAce likely fell out of WTL 2020 Finals contention with the loss, Henare will be able to gain valuable experience while teaming with Tanahashi, who will also look to regain his form after a rough finish to his G1 Climax 30 campaign.
The victory allowed FinJuice to continue on their path at the top of the WTL 2020 table. Remember to stay up to date with the latest news on TheOvertimer. Don’t forget to visit Gamestingr for great videos, news, and gameplay!
