New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) hosted the second night of the World Tag League 2020 (WTL 2020) tournament series in front of 1,433 fans at the Yoshitsune Arena within the Ishikawa Prefecture. As usual, during present times, the crowd number was reduced to fit NJPW’s COVID-19 (Coronavirus, 2019) safety protocols.
The second tournament match of the event saw the CHAOS team of two-thirds of the reigning NEVER Openweight 6-Man Champions Hirooki Goto/Yoshi-Hashi attempt to pick up their first points of the tournament against the Empire team of Jeff Cobb/Great-O-Khan.
The Empire team was able to blitz past HenarACE (Hiroshi Tanahashi/Toa Henare) during their opening match of the series, mainly due to their opponents not having the ability to prepare for Jeff Cobb. Goto/Yoshi-Hashi were in quality form, despite not picking up the results they’ve wanted over the past month.
While the CHAOS team could not match the power of Cobb/O-Khan they proved it will be difficult to defeat them throughout WTL 2020. Yoshi-Hashi continued to show his growth in 2020 by putting forth a gutty effort and refusing to give up the fall for his team.
The CHAOS team was able to earn a victory when Goto gained the fall over O-Khan at the 13 minutes and 41 seconds mark with his Goto-Nishiki cradle technique with aid from Yosh-Hashi. The victory moves the CHAOS team to 2 points and was the first pinfall defeat for O-Khan since his return from his Revolution Pro Wrestling (RevPro) excursion.
Goto/Yoshi-Hashi went on to face their fellow CHAOS unit mates their NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championship partner “Stone Pitbull” Tomohiro Ishii and Toru Yano in their next WTL 2020 match. Cobb/O-Kharn would face the Bullet Club team of Bad Luck Fale/Chase Owens on the same night as both teams attempted to move up to four points in the WTL 2020 table.
