New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) continued Best of the Super Juniors 27 (BOSJ 27) on November 20, 2020, at the legendary Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan. The COVID-19 (Coronavirus, 2019) reduced crowd of 696 showed excitement as the junior heavyweights entered a pivotal night of tournament action.

The fourth series match of the event saw a match between two CHAOS Junior Heavyweights when “High Voltage” Sho (2-0) [4 points] took on “Sniper of the Skies” Robbie Eagles (1-1) [2 points]. Sho came into the contest with a BOSJ 27 tournament victory over Suzuki-Gun member Douki on November 18th. Robbie Eagles took the fall to “Way to the Grand Master” Master Wato on the same night.

The match between the CHAOS members was respectful but fought with high intensity. Eagles had to deal with Sho’s blend of power and technique, while Eagles asked Sho questions with his quickness and pinpoint leg attacks.

Eagles needed the victory to keep pace with the BOSJ 27 table, while Sho had the opportunity to start his campaign with three straight victories. However, his unit mate didn’t allow that to happen.

Eagles was able to grab the submission fall at the 19 minutes and 22 seconds mark with his Ron Miller Special, Reverse Figure 4 technique. The thrilling victory moved Eagles to 2-1 (4 points), leapfrogging Sho who dropped to 2-1 (4 points) with the loss.

Eagles would go on to face former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and Los Ingobernables de Japon (LIJ) member Bushi on November 23rd, while Sho took on former two-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and BOSJ 19 winner “Funky Weapon” Ryusuke Taguchi on the same night.

The pivotal victory for Robbie means he put himself in a position to make a strong run forward. The loss doesn’t do major damage to Sho’s chances to make a BOSJ 27 Finals appearance, but it does mean he has a far smaller window for error.
