Los Ingobernables de Japon (LIJ) member Bushi comes into Best of the Super Juniors 27 (BOSJ 27) needing to regain the form he had when he won the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship back on September 17, 2016 during Destruction in Tokyo.
While Bushi isn’t one of the favorites to win BOSJ 27, he has shown the ability to get hot during the past several Best of the Super Juniors tournaments. With many expecting his LIJ unit mate former three-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion “Time Bomb” Hiromu Takahashi to have a better campaign than Bushi, he will have the motivation to elevate his form.
Bushi will need to perform well against favorites IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion “Bone Soldier” Taiji Ishimori, “Sniper of the Skies” Robbie Eagles, Sho, and Hiromu throughout his campaign. To advance to the BOSJ 27 Finals, Bushi will likely need to defeat three of those opponents to even have a chance.
Highlighted matches during his BOSJ 27 campaign see Bushi face Sho (November 15th), Hiromu (November 20th), Robbie Eagles (November 23rd), and El Desperado (December 6th).
Bushi winning the tournament would shock many people, with most thinking he will be in a spoiler role over the last few finals days of the campaign. However, he remains a threat who can find his form and go on streaks at key moments. While not a favorite, he is a darkhorse threat that might be able to make a run if the four favorites struggle to get off to a great start.
It’s also not impossible to see an all LIJ BOSJ 27 Finals if he and Hiromu finish with the most points at the end of bracket action.
