Ember Moon is back where she belongs in NXT, and to quote a recent promo “Mama wants some gold.” The former NXT Women’s Champion is 2-0 since coming back, but after a singles win over Jessi Kamea, Dakota Kai would introduce Moon to the bottom of her boots with a wicked kick. This has the former champion ready to make Kai the first victim on her road back to the top, and it’ll be hard to deny Moon, unless Raquel Gonzalez is ready to help Kai once again.
Ember Moon Gives Dakota Kai Her Receipt
They’d lock up hard, with Moon shoving Kai into the corner and slamming her into the turnbuckles. Kai came back and downed Moon for some ground and pound, only to have this turned around on her. Moon would soon find herself in a headlock, and Kai showed she might be the better ground wrestler.
Kai would maintain control for a brief time, before Moon applied a butterfly lock, and got Kai back to her feet. Moon would get both her and Kai to their feet, only to be dropped down and pop right back up. Some shoving would follow, before Moon tripped her opponent up and hit a running senton.
They’d up on the apron, separated by the corner. Moon would be pulled into it, and Kai used the turnbuckle for an armbar, using all of the referee’s 5 count. The arm was now an easy target, and Kai was more than happy to take it. A crossbreaker would be applied in the middle of the ring, but Moon fought on as best she could.
She’d manage to flip Kai over, but not break the armbar, almost ending up in a worse position. Moon would fight free and lift Kai into a powerbomb, finally breaking the hold. Back on their feet, she’d focus on strikes, and find a chance to trip Kai up on the apron, spin her around and hit a boot to the head.
This was the way Kai attacked Moon two weeks ago, but it’d be followed with a series of Suicide Dives. She’d hit the first one, but missed the second as we went to a commercial break.
Raquel Gonzalez Makes The Difference
Coming back from the break, Moon was fighting off Kai in the middle of the ring. She’d manage a big spinebuster for a two count, but Kai came back with a Victory Roll into a Facebuster, getting a near fall to call her own.
The Go To Kick would be set up, but Moon slipped out, only to take a Roundhouse kick to the head. Moon came back with a Codebreaker off the second rope, a solid comeback move. Both women were down and would exchange blows in the middle of the ring, Moon goading Kai in and moving into the crossface. With nowhere to go, Kai would turn this into a pinfall.
They’d trade Crucifix Pins, before Kai got the Fujiwara armbar. Moon would crawl to the ropes, but Kai held the armbar for the referee’s count, some extra damage. She’d make the mistake of throwing strikes and waking up Moon, who unloaded with some rage filled strikes.
A running elbow strike would set up the Eclipse, and Gonzalez would distract Moon, and let Kai hit the Go To Kick, getting the win. This match was absolutely incredible, even by WWE NXT standards. There was some great mat wrestling, a solid pace, and the only flaw was the distraction finish from Gonzalez.
