It has been eight months since the true NXT Cruiserweight Champion has been able to defend his championship. Jordan Devlin is back in the ring, and after a tune up match against Levi Muir, he’s ready to be a fighting champion again. Amir Jordan has stepped up, since Kenny Williams was unable to compete following his hard fought match with Trent Seven. Can Devlin prove that he’s still The Irish Ace, or will he lose his championship?
Jordan Devlin Likes A Slow Start
They’d lock up, but Devlin would quickly be shoved off, and take down Jordan with a shoulder block. He’d grab a quick headlock, and proceed to work over Jordan, but be dropped and be told to not take his opponent lightly. Devlin clearly had a mental edge, as Jordan was trying to declare himself worthy of being here, while Devlin stayed calm and threw hard strikes and picked Jordan apart.
Jordan would be slammed into the mat, and hit with a jumping knee drop which landed clean on the middle of the nose. A few pinfall attempts saw Jordan stay in this, before being dropped again with a backdrop. Devlin would stalk Jordan around the ring and hit some chops, and even when Jordan fired up, he’d be dropped with a dropkick.
Some forearm strikes on the mat would batter Jordan, and once he got back to his feet he was hit with a snap suplex. This match was quickly slipped away from Jordan, as he was locked in a neck crank in the middle of the ring, and had to start doing something.
Amir Jordan Picks The Pace Up
Jordan would break the hold, and hit a couple of strikes on Devlin. This advantage would be snuffed out in a hurry, as Devlin caught him with a uranage into a standing moonsault. Devlin would dump Jordan to the outside, and stomp him on the outside. Jordan would have his previously injured shoulder attacked, before being hit with a backbreaker.
Devlin could end this match at any time, but punished Jordan with an abdominal stretch. Jordan broke this hold with a hip toss, and had a promising flurry of offense, finally taking the champion down. He’d rush into Devlin in the corners, hit a big back body drop, send Devlin over the outside and finish up with a suicide dive. A rolling flatliner would be one of Jordan’s best shots, but it only got a two count.
Jordan went to the top rope, but took too much time and Devlin cut him off. Devlin would go up top with Jordan, but Jordan kept fighting and slipped off, lifting Devlin onto his shoulders. A slam from the Electric Chair position would be followed with an attempt at the diving senton, but Devlin got his knees up. Now with some urgency, Delvin would apply the Four Leaf Clover and force a fast submission win.
