The wrestling world is still mourning the tragic death of Jon Huber aka Brodie Lee. He was taken much too soon, at only 41 years old. Given that he was contracted to AEW, there is a heavy expectation for them to do something special to honour him on AEW Dynamite this week. With just two days ahead of the show, they’ve begun re-working what was set to be a New Year’s special episode, into something that could be very special.
It’s Wednesday, You Know What That Means
There was a stacked card like usual announced in advance for AEW Dynamite, as it was going to be night one of New Year’s Smash. Matches like Wardlow vs. Jake Hager, Abadon challenging Hikaru Shida for the AEW Women’s World Championship, Kenny Omega vs. Rey Fenix for the AEW World Championship and more were announced.
While some of these matches might air, they are re-working the show, likely making this week’s episode a tribute show to the career and life of Brodie Lee. Reworking the show could also come with major title implications.
Dark Order Could Be In For A Huge Win In Honor Of Brodie Lee
As of right now, there was only one championship win in the history of The Dark Order. That was Mr. Brodie Lee mauling Cody Rhodes to claim the TNT Championship earlier this year. With the news that AEW is reworking this week’s episode of Dynamite, we could very well see some new matches slipped in. One that could take the place of Fenix vs. Omega in the main event, is a classic rivalry of The Young Bucks vs. Evil Uno & Stu Greyson.
Looking into the backlog of companies like Pro Wrestling Guerrilla and Ring of Honor, you will find instant classics from these teams dating all the way back to 2012. They have yet to match up in AEW, another huge potential match in the tag team division, and one that would need very little prep time. Add in the AEW World Tag Team Championships on the line, and it could be a huge potential win for Dark Order. All in the memory of their Exalted One, now and forever, Mr. Brodie Lee.
