On November 30th, New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) presented World Tag League 2020 (WTL 2020) from the legendary Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan in front of 557 fans. COVID-19 (Coronavirus, 2019) safety restrictions were responsible for the reduced crowd size, yet the crowd was present during key parts of the night.
The marquee series match of the event saw the reigning IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions and Suzuki-Gun members Dangerous Tekkers (Zack Sabre Jr/Taichi) take on former IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions and WTL 2019 winners FinJuice (Juice Robinson/David Finlay).
Dangerous Tekkers came into the match after gaining the fall over the Bullet Club team of Evil/Yujiro on November 28th, while FinJuice did the same against the Los Ingobernables de Japon (LIJ) team of Sanada/Shingo Takagi on the same night.
In a contest that had the feel of a championship match, the two sides battle against each other, showing that both are among the best tag teams in the world today. FinJuice needed the victory to stay within striking distance of the top of the WTL 2020 table, while Dangerous Tekkers would have become table leaders with a victory.
Despite the fight shown by the reigning champions, they were unable to gain the fall over FinJucie, leading to David Finlay pinning Taichi at the 21 minutes and 32 seconds mark to take his teams WTL 2020 record to (4-3) [8 points], while the loss dropped Dangerous Tekkers to (4-3) [8 points] creating a jumble in the middle of the table.
FinJuice would go on to face the CHAOS team of Tomohiro Ishii/Toru Yano on December 4th, while Dangerous Tekkers would face the Bullet Club team of “Rogue General” Bad Luck Fale/”Crown Jewel” Chase Owens on the same night.
If FinJuice could go on a run, they would find themselves in the WTL 2020 Finals with the chance to repeat.
