On November 28th New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) presented World Tag League 2020 (WTL 2020) from the Fujisawa City Akibadai Cultural Gymnasium in Niigata, Japan in Kanagawa, Japan in front of 1,051 fans. COVID-19 (Coronavirus, 2019) safety restrictions were responsible for the reduced crowd size, yet the crowd was lively throughout, providing a great atmosphere.
The marquee series match of the event saw former six-time IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions and Bullet Club members Guerillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga/Tanga Loa) [GOD] take on two-thirds of the reigning NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Champions and CHAOS members Hirooki Goto/Yoshi-Hashi.
Coming into the match GOD dropped the fall to CHAOS team and former IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions “Stone Pitbull” Tomohiro Ishii/Toru Yano on November 24th, while on the same night Goto/Yosh-Hashi lost to Los Ingobernables de Japon (LIJ) team of Sanada/”The Dragon” Shingo Takagi.
The CHAOS tandem needed the victory to keep their WTL 2020 Finals hopes alive, while GOD could climb to the top of the table with a victory. Despite being heavy underdogs, Goto/Yosh-Hashi fought hard against GOD, including their manager Jado throughout the match, managing to make the contest extremely difficult for the Bullet Club team.
Yoshi-Hashi would gain the fall over Tama Tonga at the 14 minutes and 28 seconds mark with a Kinkoji cradle technique to move he and Goto’s record to (3-3) [6 points], while the loss dropped GOD to (3-3) [6 points].
Goto/Yoshi-Hashi would go on to face the Bullet Club team of Bad Luck Fale/Chase Owens on November 30th, while GOD faced the LIJ team of Sanada/Shingo on the same night.
The loss meant GOD would have to finish WTL 2020 with a streak if they were to advance to the WTL 2020 Finals, with the hopes of winning their first trophy in NJPW.
