During the pre-show of Final Battle 2020, Dalton Castle was doing commentary. However, with Mexisquad unable to defend their six man tag team championships due to Bandido & Flamita unable to make the show. This left Rey Horus backstage without a match, and Castle wanted a match on this show to begin with. He’d pull some strings, and we have an impromptu match to fill a gap left by COVID-19! To be extra safe, Castle sanitized his hands on his way to the ring. In 2017, he won the ROH World Championship at this event, and looks to get a singles win tonight.
Dalton Castle Was Slow To Start
Castle got Horus in the corner early, but Horus responded with a roll up. Horus wanted to pick the pace up, but Castle wanted a warm up, not expecting to wrestle tonight. Castle would be hit with a dropkick, but countered the Monkey Flip by putting Horus on the top rope, only to take an arm drag. Despite this, Castle just slammed Horus and took him to the mat with ease. If he can control the pace and make this a mat heavy match, Castle wins every time.
Horus went outside to regroup, but Castle followed him for a forearm smash, before being sent back into the ring. He used the high ground to stun Castle with a dropkick before nailing a dive over the top rope, and Horus had control again. Castle tried to throw Horus into the barricade, but Horus stopped himself, and let Castle run himself knee first into the barricade.
Rey Horus Drops Castle On His Head
Back in the ring, Horus got some fast strikes in the corner before a kick on the mat for a two count. He’d hesitate on following up, and Castle almost got back into this before being hit with a diving tornado DDT. Castle only survived with a rope break. Horus went up top and was cut down, and hit with a big running knee lift. Castle planted Horus in the ring for a two count, before going for a German Suplex.
Horus ran into a knee strike in the corner, but Castle hesitated on the follow up off the middle rope. Castle was hit with a tornado driver right into a pinfall. This ended the match, and possibly gave Horus his biggest singles win in his ROH career, pinning a former ROH World Champion at Final Battle.
