Earlier in the night, we saw an insane Four Corners Survival Match, with Tony Deppen coming out on top. They earned this match, and will now have to go to war with none other than Dragon Lee. Lee has been ROH TV Champion since Final Battle last year when he toppled Shane Taylor, but hasn’t really been tested often as champion. Deppen already went through a hard fought match, but this is Dragon Lee’s first match since February. Neither man is at full power here, and anything can happen.
Tony Deppen Is Ready To Fight To The Death
Deppen came to the ring with a hurt neck, but Dragon Lee has that ring rust. Lee refused the handshake and gave Deppen the middle finger, before starting the grappling. Deppen took the wrist lock, but Lee was scary quick and got an armdrag, but Deppen kept pace. Lee had to fix his mask and almost got rolled up twice, but Deppen got a dropkick in the face, went outside and dove onto. Deppen was thrown around the ringside area before being thrown in for a double stomp, but somehow got out at two.
Lee threw heavy chops in the corner before choking Deppen with his boot. Deppen came in time to get a springboard dropkick to cancel Lee’s springboard before diving through the ropes with a flip and landing on his feet. Back in the ring, he got a springboard dropkick for a two count. Keeping the control, he’d go for a forearm before being hit with a dropkick and stomped into the corner again. A hesitation dropkick to the head in the corner got a near fall, but Deppen never quits even when ran right into an open hand chop.
That chop brought out the crazy eyes of Deppen, and he threw open palm strikes before taking one behind the ear. A knee to the head from Deppen was followed by a snap german, a moonsault northern lights and a knee to the face by Dragon Lee, an insane combo.
Dragon Lee Has Deadly Knees
They’d get back to their feet and trade more heavy blows, and Deppen was showing better conditioning but the neck wasn’t doing well. He slumped into the corner, but was playing possum and tripped Lee up, nailed a senton to the back and a codebreaker for a two count. Lee was kicked in the head as he went up top, but Deppen got trapped in the tree of woe for the double stomp.
Lee went for the suplex bomb, but Deppen fought out with an elbow to the head. Deppen was propped up top, but hit a flipping neckbreaker of the top rope and a knockout knee strike for a two count. He went for another knee strike, Lee blocked but got rocked anyways. Lee got a pump knee into a poisonrana, and the knee strike on the mat for a near fall.
The suplex bomb got a near fall, Deppen somehow staying in this. Another running knee strike with more distance for Dragon Lee ended this one, and he’d stomp on Deppen to pose afterwards.
Will Tony Deppen get the ROH contract despite a loss here? Can Rush retain as well? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
