It was an enthralling night of action at WWE TLC on Sunday evening. The Fiend and Randy Orton competed in a match for the ages, with The Fiend wrestling while on fire for the final stages. However, one of the biggest stories from the night came earlier on at the start of the card as Drew McIntyre successfully defended his WWE Championship against AJ Styles and The Miz.
The latter of the stars was interjected into the match after deciding to cash-in his Money in the Bank briefcase. However, that decision was ill-advised as McIntyre was still able to claim the victory. But, with the challengers now seen off, who could McIntyre come up against next?
WWE News: Sheamus
The WWE have been teasing for some time that Sheamus and McIntyre could be set to face off for the WWE Championship. It would certainly be a rivalry that both superstars would be interested in, as they are clearly close friends behind the scenes.
We would go as far to say that a rivalry between the Irishman and the Scotsman is almost a certainty next year, and it could happen sooner rather than later. The Royal Rumble could be the most logical PPV to have the two stars square off, but you would be hard-pressed to find fans against this being McIntyre’s WrestleMania match.
WWE News: AJ Styles
AJ Styles may not be done with McIntyre just yet, and may claim that the two should compete in a re-match after The Miz got involved in their championship match at TLC. This would be something fans would be okay with, as the two could have a blisteringly good match at an upcoming show. It would also be a decent stop-gap before McIntyre’s Mania feud gets underway after the Rumble.
WWE News: Braun Strowman
One superstar that got fans talking on social media over the weekend was Braun Strowman. The Monster uploaded a picture of his new look after being kept off television for a month due to injury.
His return could ignite a new rivalry with McIntyre, which could be engaging since the Scot would have to find a new way to overcome a very difficult opponent. He will be unable to beat the strength or Strowman, which could mean that McIntyre’s championship reign could be in danger should they come up against each other in the near future.
