It has been an incredible month for Leon Ruff, who is the current NXT North American Championship thanks to Damien Priest. Curt Stallion would come to his aid in a battle against Legado Del Fantasma, who had called him out for being a fake champion. Stallion was taken out in the parking lot, and Priest would then take out Joaquin Wilde.
So now it’s Santos Escobar & Raul Mendoza vs. Leon Ruff & Damien Priest. Can Priest & Ruff get along before facing off on Sunday? Johnny Gargano on commentary would help ruffle some feathers.
Legado Del Fantasma Take The Lead
Ruff would start across the ring from Escobar, two champions facing off. Escobar absolutely dominated Ruff, and decided this was a job for Mendoza instead. Mendoza would be outsped by Ruff, slip through the legs and hit a dropkick. He’d tag back in Escobar, who would take Ruff out with a knee strike before Ruff would get a tag from Priest.
Priest held a size advantage over everyone, and Escobar wanted nothing to do with him. Mendoza would tag in, and be mauled on the outside by Priest. Gargano’s friend dressed as Ghost Face would be in the crowd, and this took Priests eye off the ball. Escobar tagged in and hit The Arrow From The Depths Of Hell, tagging advantage as we go into a commercial break.
Leon Ruff & Damien Priest Make A Solid Tag Team
Coming back from the break, Priest has been completely isolated by Legado Del Fantasma, this match looking more like a handicap match. Priest would endure a major beating before getting Mendoza with an elevated flatliner. The damage to his right knee would make a tag hard, and he’d tag in Ruff as Escobar came in.
Unlike earlier in the match, Ruff wouldn’t be destroyed, and instead show his uncanny speed. He’d miss a tag to Mendoza before dropping Escobar, and being blindsided. Priest had enough time to recover, and tagged in to clean out the ring. He’d punch Mendoza in the face, hit The Reckoning, and Leon Ruff tagged in during and got the pinfall with a big frog splash.
Will Priest help Ruff retain on Sunday, or become a two time NXT North American Champion? Do they have some tag team potential? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
