Fans of AEW Dark know exactly how fun ‘Pretty’ Peter Avalon is. Once a librarian, then the tag team partner of Brandon Culter, then the rival of Brandon Cutler, Avalon is now a ladies man. Tonight, he looks to charm women all around the world as he steps into the ring with Cody Rhodes.
Rhodes wants to defeat Avalon in under a minute, which Avalon will make tricky. He might look like WWE star Ruby Riott with a moustache, but he’s a well travelled in-ring veteran on a 5 match winning streak!
Cody Rhodes Gets Distracted
After both men made their suitably big entrances, it was time to get this show on the road. Avalon ran right into a Cross Rhodes, before being distracted by Jade Carigill, who got involved with Red Velvet on Dr. Britt Bakers Waiting Room last week. Rhodes took his eyes off Avalon for too long, and turned into a low blow behind the back of the referee.
Avalon would attack the knee of Rhodes, kicking, clubbing and stretching it. Some knife edge chops in the corner kept the advantage, but Rhodes came back with an open hand chop of his own. He was about to punch Avalon in the face, but Avalon hid his face, not wanting to mess up his… good looks? Instead, Rhodes dropped down and hit the throat thrust.
Peter Avalon Falls To Rhodes
Rhodes scaled to the top rope, but was cut off by Avalon and hit with a big superplex off the top rope, unable to follow up with a pinfall. Avalon followed Rhodes outside and was thrown into the barricade, before coming back with some chops to the throats. Back in the ring, a snap suplex got Avalon a one count, before they hit lariats at the same time forcing a double down.
Avalon would rake the eyes of Rhodes, and keep attacking that knee from earlier in the match. A half crab would be applied, and then the knee was wrapped up in the ropes. Rhodes slipped to the outside and got a sunset flip for a two count, before being dropped with a clothesline. A scoop slam set up a moonsault, but Avalon just got canvas. Rhodes couldn’t leapfrog over Avalon, and messed his knee up even more! Avalon blew a kiss to the crowd and ran into a CodyCutter.
Rhodes got the big comeback with a powerslam, took the weighted belt off and applied the Figure Four Leg Lock in the middle of the ring, but Avalon reversed the pressure of the hold. Rhodes got things back in control, threatened to slap Avalon in the face… and that made him tap out. Peter Avalon is an enigma.
