Tonight is the 2021 Royal Rumble, often one of the biggest WWE events in the calendar year. However, this year is a weird one for many reasons. The main reason is that there will be zero live fans in attendance, as the show takes place in the WWE ThunderDome. This is a weakness and a strength however, as WWE has a chance to make it a unique and memorable Royal Rumble due to that lack of fans. And if anyone has defined making the no-fans era special, it’s Bray Wyatt.
Bray Wyatt Has Been Missing Since TLC 2020
The main event of TLC 2020 saw what could have been the conclusion to the feud between Bray Wyatt & Randy Orton. They had an incredibly dangerous inferno match, perhaps the best example of the match in existence due to the cinematic nature provided by the empty WWE ThunderDome.
Orton won the match after shoving Wyatt into a pillar of flame at ringside. But he wasn’t done there. He’d douse Wyatt in gasoline in the ring, and attempt to fully burn him alive, and maybe put a proper end to The Fiend. We haven’t see The Fiend or Wyatt since, setting up a Royal Rumble return perfectly, especially as Orton enters the match at Number One.
Potentially Bringing Multiple Personas To The Match
One of the best parts of Bray Wyatt is the strength of all his characters. Between The Fiend, his friendly Mr. Rogers like persona from The Firefly Funhouse, Swamp Cult Leader Wyatt and the wacky 80’s inspired Muscle Man? He’s as close as we’re getting to a modern Mick Foley. In the 1998 Royal Rumble, Mick Foley brought Cactus Jack, Mankind and Dude Love to the match, entering at #1, #16 & #28, getting eliminated each time.
Wyatt could easily recreate this in the 2021 Royal Rumble. Edge & Randy Orton start the match, and Wyatt could bring each persona into the match in escalating fashion. Mr. Rogers Wyat first, then Muscle Man, then Swamp Cult Leader, before a more deranged Fiend than ever finally takes Orton out. It would create a very memorable set of events, take advantage of the crowdless Rumble with potential special effects, and continue this heated feud.
