In another time, Lars Sullivan would have easily become the next big monster heel on the WWE roster. Sadly, in the age of the internet, he’s simply a punching bag for fans after one controversy after another. From his racist and homophobic past on body building forums, to his barely hidden and very contradicting gay porn past? It’s no wonder fans have a hard time liking Sullivan or taking him seriously.
Despite this, WWE tried to re-debut him during the 2020 Draft, sending him to Smackdown Live to once again wreck havoc. That didn’t last long, and we haven’t seen Sullivan since November. Could WWE have finally given up on The Freak?
One Too Many Scandal For Lars Sullivan To Be Worth It?
While Sullivan is a decent big man in the ring, he’s been nothing but an issue for the company since 2018. Just a few days after he returned to TV, after WWE likely thought the situation had calmed down enough to bring him back? He ended up in the news again for sexually harassing a yoga instructor he was working with.
WWE are well aware of his issues, and it’s led to him having very few supporters backstage. He was already on thin ice after having thrown racist remarks at veterans like Kofi Kingston & R-Truth, but if he acts like this online? It’s not hard to imagine him being just as bad backstage. He did still have the support of Vince McMahon back in November, yet was still taken off TV all the same.
Sullivan was even meant to be in the Survivor Series pre-show battle royale, but was taken out of the match at the last minute. There’s been no word from him since, and WWE very well could be riding out the remainder of his contract, or simply hoping people just forget about everything he’d done. WWE wants him to be Smackdown’s version of Braun Strowman, but it’s just not meant to be.
Could we see Sullivan get one more chance in WWE? Should they just find another big guy to take his role? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
