While Ring Of Honor continues to lock down their future in names like Bandido, Mark Haskins, and Tyler Bateman, one of their former champions is now a free agent. This is former ROH World Champion, Dalton Castle, who won the championship after pinning Cody Rhodes back in 2017. He’s been with Ring Of Honor since 2013, but could it be time for him to sign elsewhere?

Dalton Castle Has An Offer On The Table From Ring Of Honor

Given that others have been offered new contracts, Dalton Castle does have an offer on the table. It’s likely a great deal, given how important Castle has been to Ring of Honor over the years. However, Castle hasn’t immediately signed this deal, and will be considering other options.

Castle has more charisma in one finger than some wrestlers have in their entire bodies, combined with once great amateur wrestling skills. However, he’s not as easy a signing for most companies, due to a back injury suffered while ROH World Champion.

Back Injury Might Make Him A Hard Sell Elsewhere

While fans were initially excited to see Castle win the ROH Championship, his reign and following career was lacking. Despite only being 34 years old, a major back injury while he was champion, one that he kept wrestling through has slowed Castle way down in recent years. No longer able to wrestle the main event style, he had relied on character work and focused more on his tag team with Joe Hendry, who is currently stuck in the UK.

This makes Castle a hard sell, with his name value not being huge, and in-ring abilities not being as good as they should be anymore. Fans have speculated he wouldn’t pass a WWE physical test to get a contract, and that AEW is too bloated. Castle could work as a manager anywhere, but his best bet might be hanging out in ROH and helping the future of that company grow. His physical condition is improving, and there’s always a chance for one more top run for him there.
