While Marina Shafirs usual tag team partner Jessamyn Duke is busy with Up Up Down Down, she found NXT newcomer Zoey Stark to team with. Stark is formerly known as Lacey Ryan, an accomplished wrestler who finally made it to WWE.
However, any partner might not be enough to deal with the energy and power promised by a team of Shotzi Blackheart & Ember Moon. These two fought side by side in WarGames, and now look to claim the first ever Female Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic trophy. This is the final first round match in the tournament.
Marina Shafir & Zoey Stark Need To Build Their Chemistry
Stark would start with Blackheart, with Blackheart being shoved across the ring by the sneaky power of Stark. Moon would tag in, and hit a double dropkick with Blackheart before going for a rollup on Stark. Another pinning attempt would be stopped by the power of Stark, who then threw Moon into the corner. Shafir tagged in, who would use her MMA abilities to overwhelm Moon, and hit the judo throw.
Stark tagged in, and Shafi would body slam Moon onto the waiting knees. Moon took a slap to the face, and that was enough to wake her up. A flurry of hard strikes was followed by Shafir being thrown onto the middle rope. Stark was tripped up and joined her partner, before Blackheart hit the running senton onto both of them.
Shotzi Blackheart & Ember Moon Are Favorites To Win It All
Blackheart hit the reverse sling blade, but a cheap shot from Stark to her back let Shafir take the advantage. Stark would attack the arm of Blackheart, and Shafir would show her ability to target and destroy a limb. A pumphandle throw sent Blackheart to the mat in a nasty way, before Stark hit a modified Go To Sleep (called Go To Stark by commentary) and Moon made a last minute save.
Blackheart got an opening after an enzuguri, and Moon could tag in alongside Stark. A big dropkick, pump kick and neckbreaker would be followed with the double underhook suplex. Moon set up the middle rope codebreaker, and Shafir broke the pin up. Blackheart fought off Shafir on the outside, and in the ring Moon locked in the submission for an easy tap out.
