There promises to be an exciting edition of Monday Night Raw tonight, as a number of WWE legends return to the flagship show. However, despite the returns of a number of special superstars, it is a certain WWE Championship match that will be the segment that the WWE Universe will be most looking forward to.
Keith Lee won the right to face Drew McIntyre in last week’s show, and their battle tonight is the perfect way for Raw to get up and running in the new year. But, could Keith Lee shock the world and walk out with the WWE Championship?
WWE News: Lee Walks Away With Gold
It already looks to be a big ask for Lee to walk out of Raw tonight with his WWE Championship, as the betting would suggest that McIntyre retains before a huge match between the two further down the line. It would make little sense for McIntyre to drop the title at this point when a match between the two could easily steal the show on a major PPV.
However, shocks are something that the WWE knows will attract higher viewing figures, which means that there needs to be a layer of unpredictability for the match. There isn’t much doubt that Lee will one day become WWE Champion, but it does seem like the first Raw of 2021 may be slightly too early for him.
WWE News: Bigger Story Begins
This is unlikely to be a one and done for McIntyre and Lee, and the bridges can begin to be built tonight for a huge future storyline between the two. It has already been teased that Lee and McIntyre could be headlining WrestleMania this year, but a turn from either of the stars is needed to progress the story. There have already been fans taking to social media to tease that Lee joining The Hurt Business could be the next step.
That would certainly be a logical move to continue their feud, and it is something that will certainly capture the imagination of the fans. Lee aligning with the stable means that there is the potential for the faction to have all the major titles on Raw. It is an excellent long-term story that could be told, and there would then be the potential of Lee feuding with MVP and Bobby Lashley further down the line.
