Tyler Rust made a big mistake before his last match. The plan was to have his manager, Malcolm Bivens go to NXT General Manager William Regal, and get him a match on NXT TV. Instead, Rust went into the office and requested a match with Bronson Reed.
He did his best to hold his own against Reed, before falling to the Australian powerhouse. Now, Malcolm Bivens set up a match for him, getting him a trainee from the WWE Performance Center, that being Daniel Garcia. Can Tyler Rust start a winning streak tonight?
Tyler Rust Has A More Manageable Opponent This Week
Tyler Rust quickly got started by taking Garcia down, as a promo from Bivens played. This match is to get the confidence of Rust back, after he got mauled by Bronson Reed. Rust was taken down with some quick arm drags, as his opponent picked up some speed and did some leap frogs, before getting punched in the face.
The arm was grabbed and kicked multiple times, before the opponent fell to the mat and had a stomp right to the chest. Rust would bend the elbow and stomp it, a move commonly used by two time NXT Women’s Champion and MMA fighter Shayna Baszler.
Following this up, Rust was just playing with his prey, picking up Garcia by the arm, spinning him around by the arm before flinging him down to the mat. Garcia came back with some running chops and some quick pinfall attempts, before going for a guillotine choke.
Malcolm Bivens Has Found A Diamond In The Rust
Rust drove Garcia into the corner to break the hold, before hitting a kick just below the jaw. Garcia was dropped with a flipping neckbreaker, before having his arms firmly trapped between the legs of Rust, forcing an easy submission victory.
After the match, Bivens took a selfie with his successful client, who pressed his knee in the chest of Garcia. Can Tyler Rust start stringing together some wins to get to an NXT North American Title shot? Will Bivens ever let him pick his own opponents again after the match with Bronson Reed?
