Last week, Shinsuke Nakamura put on an awesome performance WWE Smackdown Preview has seen in a while as he ran through most of the gauntlet to earn a Universal Championship opportunity.
Of course, he was waylaid by Jey Uso and Roman Reigns so they could have Adam Pearce win to teach him a lesson in what has been derided by many as the second worst angle (Goldberg’s return is the top one).
The fact that the Universal Championship match at the Royal Rumble is basically wasted unless Pearce finds a way to put Nakamura in the match in his place doesn’t take away from a great face turn.
Blow the wind.

Nakamura and Uso
Jey Uso has done Roman Reigns bidding seemingly against his better judgement, and last week was no different when he helped take out Nakamura for an unconscious Pearce to be placed on him for the win.
Ignoring the fact Pearce could suspend or fire Reigns, this set up a future feud as well as turning Nakamura face and it should be a great one.
Nakamura is extremely talented, and AJ Styles has recently said he’s got everything needed to be the Universal Champion and we agree.
But he’s going to start that run by defeating Uso tonight in what’s sure to be a great match between two awesomely talented individuals.
Backup needed
While we hope the WWE won’t do some of their typical stuff by having Reigns or someone else interfere in an awesome match, we’re preparing for the worst.
With that in mind, Nakamura will need some help, and since Kevin Owens may not be back yet, we’re thinking it’ll be his tag partner Cesaro.
Over recent weeks, we’ve seen less and less of Nakamura and Cesaro as a tag team, and when we did they were generally beaten.
But they also formed a bond as a team and were great to watch in the ring and backstage, so WWE Smackdown Preview hopes Cesaro will turn with Nakamura.
It’d give Reigns and Uso a team to face rather than an individual for a change and could make things very interesting.
Either way, we expect Nakamura to win tonight in what should be the match of the night and an ensuing beatdown attempt by Reigns could bring out Cesaro.
Who do you think will win tonight and do you think Nakamura would be a good Universal Champion? Let us know in the comments below.
