Back in December, Kenny Omega cheated to defeat Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship. Since then, he’s become a much different, more sinister man, as Don Callis manipulates him. He’s re-kindled old friendships with Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson, and it’s looking like Bullet Club is in another company.
Tonight, the original plan seemed to be to have Death Triangle (PAC, Rey Fenix & Penta El Zero M) face off with Omega, Gallows & Anderson, but that changed when Penta El Zero M was taken out backstage. Instead of the match being called off, Omega and pals will need to deal with Jon Moxley instead of Penta in this chaotic six man tag team match. And don’t forget, Moxley is a master of this style, just ask anyone who faced The Shield.
Jon Moxley Wastes No Time Getting Into The Fight
PAC started with Anderson, and they would exchange forearms, before Anderons hit the shoulder tackle. A running hurricanrana sent Anderson flying, and Gallows tagged in. Moxley wanted in, and he’d match up with Gallows better than anyone else on his team. He took it right to Gallows with four shots, and was dropped by one.
Moxley went for a sunset flip and Gallows thought he had a hip drop, but missed and took some heavy blows ending with the Regal Knee. Anderson tagged in and so did Fenix, but PAC quickly hit some moonsault presses with Fenix and went up top. Omega stopped PAC from taking flight, and Gallows took him off the top rope. Gallows got a heavy boot to the gut of PAC, before Omega came in and went to war with PAC again.
He’d take a snap German Suplex, and remember why he’s supposed to fear PAC. Moxley and Anderson came in, and Moxley was throwing those heavy strikes, and threw Anderson into the air to crash below. Gallows ran a distraction and took a back elbow and body press, then hit both Anderson & Gallows with the suicide dive and sent Omega into the barricade.
PAC & Kenny Omega Pick Up The Pac
As Moxley came back into the ring, he’d take the Gun Stun from Anderson, who tagged Gallows in. A body block sent Moxley off the apron, and Omega threw him into the barricade. Moxley was getting isolated in the Bullet Club corner, being stomped by Omega when down. Anderson would gouge at the eyes of Moxley, and Omega choked him on the ropes.
Gallows would lay waste to Moxley with those heavy blows, and a tag was going to be needed asap. Moxley counted the powerbomb into a figure four, and Anderson stomped him instantly to break the hold. Gallows & Anderson wanted Magic Killer, but Moxley knew how to counter that and broke free. Fenix would get the tag alongside Omega, and things picked up instantly with a step-in hurricanrana from Fenix. Gallows took a superkick and dropkick, and Anderson the springboard headbutt. Omega went for a powerbomb but took a superkick.
Fenix slipped into the corner, tagged in PAC who came in with the springboard dropkick. PAC & Fenix would go for blind moonsaults onto Gallows & Anderson on the outside, before Fenix moonsaulted into a cutter in the ring for a near fall on Omega. Omega & Fenix exchanged shots, but Fenix got fancy on the top rope, and had his leg kicked out and took a high angle dragon suplex. Gallows came in, nailed a big boot and got the near fall.
An Instant Classic
Fenix got the blind tag to PAC, who chopped Gallows down with some kicks but couldn’t get more than a one count. Gallows hit the thrust kick and tagged in Omega, but Anderson came in as all three men crushed PAC in the corner and hit a double back suplex & neckbreaker combo. PAC took the Doctor Wily Bomb, but was able to kick out at two.
Omega launched the first V-Trigger of the match, and got PAC flush in the side of the head. He’d go for One Winged Angel, and almost end up in the Brutalizer. Omega was shoved into the corner, hit with a pump kick from Fenix, German Suplex from Moxley, and a deadlift German from PAC for a close fall. Moxley applied the sleeper hold, but let it go to take Anderson off the apron.
Omega got the V-Trigger, then ran into a huge lariat. Gallows took Moxley out, Fenix took both Anderson & Gallows out, before nearly diving into the first row. Moxley went for Paradigm Shift, but Omega got it instead. PAC was in position to break the pin up with a 450 Splash, and the first break in action for minutes came and went very fast as Anderson got the tag.
Moxley hit a Gun Stun on Anderson, and Fenix got the tag and a moonsault press. Another dive saw Fenix caught in the AA Spinebuster, before being hit with Magic Killer to end this match.
Despite a slow start, this match absolutely delivered by the end. Once the pace picked up, it never let up until the bell rang, which is how a good six man tag team match goes. These six are among the best in the world, and this match showed that perfectly. Match Rating: 4.5/5 (**** ½)
After the match, they kept beating their opponents down. Lance Archer would hit the ring ready to fight Bullet Club, as a Suzuki-Gun alumni, he’s got issues with them all dating back to Japan. He cleared the ring, and went after Gallows who matched him in size. Moxley was alone with Omega, until a masked man attacked him.
This wasn’t a member of the AEW roster, it was the number one contender to the IWGP United States Championship. KENTA has kicked down the forbidden door between NJPW & AEW, complete with Bullet Club merch and a Go To Sleep.
Who else from NJPW will show up in AEW after KENTA made the first shot? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
